Is your LO using a high chair yet?

Inspired by the thread on keeping babies entertained, is your LO sitting in a high chair yet?

Mine is 17 weeks and we just tried him in one on Sunday. We were at my sister's place for dinner and she had the IKEA ones her twins used (they are now 2.5) that she will give us for him. We put him in it during dinner and he did okay, but we had to stuff a blanket behind him and in front of him to keep him steady. I guess he is a few weeks off of really being able to use it. I can't wait though, it will be nice to have somewhere to put him during dinner!

Is your LO steady enough for a high chair yet?

  • Yep he sits with us at dinner in it. I don't even put the tray on. Just push it right up the table. He nomad Sophie while we eat.

  • We tried ours out this weekend. LO is 16.5 weeks. She seemed to enjoy being able to sit at our level at the table with us. We have the Graco Duodiner LX. The seat reclines and has an extra body support pad for infants so we didn't have any issues with the fit.

  • We've been using ours for quite a while since it reclines. He sits in it while we eat at the table. He's pulling himself up now and holding steady, so we will be moving it completely upright tonight.
  • I ordered ours today, set to arrive tomorrow. I wasn't actually planning to start putting DD in it for a few weeks, she's 19 wks, but it makes sense to start getting her used to it.

DD sits in hers sometimes. She loves being upright, and is pretty stable. However, her chair reclines back a little at the moment.

ETA: It's a Fisher Price one, if that makes a difference.

He seems to enjoy it Andwatches me cook dinner sometimes
  • My gigantic baby has been using hers for about a month.
  • Sometimes I stick her in there when I need to set her down but keep her out of big brothers reach. Just for short stints. No feeding involved yet

  • Yes my DD has been sitting in hers for a few weeks now. I lost track of how many weeks she is but she will be 4 months on Saturday. We have a space saver high chair that is attached to one of our kitchen chairs. I love it! We put DD in it while we eat dinner and I feed her cereal in it. She also sits in it and watches me make dinner sometimes!
  • Yes, but ours reclines.  We use the ikea one at my parents house, it's great!

  • Yes, but in the reclined position. I think he'll like it better when he can sit all the way up.

  • We have the Phil & Ted lobster chair that attaches to our table (no space at this house). We attempted it over the weekend, but DD isn't quite there yet. She has great head control but if she were to lose balance her head would hit the table.

  • I never thought to put the kids in it before they started eating. Durh. DS just always plays on his activity mat while we eat. I'll have to get it out of the attic now!

Same. DD sits in hers at the table with us.

  • DD has been sitting in hers for about a week now. No feeding yet, but I'll put her in it while I eat breakfast and clean up the kitchen, and she sits with us while we eat dinner. It has an insert for smaller babies but we're using it with just the regular padding. It has shoulder straps so I'm not worried about her falling forward.

All AL-ers welcome in my posts! <3
  • She does pretty good in ours but a week or 2 really made a difference in how well she could do.

  • I haven't tried it yet. He is an end of May baby so he is almost ready. I could probably stick him in it with a blanket on front of him.
  • We've been using our highchair for a couple weeks now, but in the reclined position. We actually just moved it up last night during dinner and she seems to really like being more upright.

DD has been sitting in her highchair during dinner almost from the beginning. It reclines a lot. It's an older version of this one

We have the ikea one at MIL's house and no way she could sit in it yet.

  • We have a reclining one and have been using it for weeks now. I love having him sit at the table with us during dinner time and i put him in it when I'm cooking or baking and he loves to watch me in the kitchen. I actually need to make a pie this afternoon so he'll be in it as soon as he's up from this next nap.
  • At our 4 month appointment our pedi said we could start introducing "solids" at 5 months so we are currently on the hunt for a high chair. I'm thinking the Peg Perego Papa Best but haven't pulled the trigger yet (it's spendy).

  • I would- but I can't figure out to keep the stupid tray up. :((
