Thirsties Duo - Snaps

Hi ladies,

I am making a registry at GMD and have decided on prefolds and am leaning towards the Thirsties Duo with the Snaps.

This diaper comes in Size One and Size Two. However, I see some other diapers come specifically in newborn sizes.

Will the Size One Thirsties fit a newborn, or do I need to order a few xs or newborn covers as well?

My first daughter was 9lbs, but I know every baby is different and want to be adequately prepared.

So if I order, say, two newborn covers just to be on the safe side... is this going to be enough to get me through until he or she fits into size one?

Sorry if these are silly questions. I'm just not quite confident on the quantity of things I'm ordering/registering for.

I had a size one Duo Wrap and two size XS Thirsties covers. The XS covers fit for a long time - I have a picture of DS wearing one of those covers when he was almost eight months old. I believe the Duo Wraps are larger than the sized covers. I seem to remember the Duo Wrap being roomy on him when he was a couple of months old and we were 100% in cloth, but it was not ridiculously huge. I very much liked having the sized covers, though.

I only had a Thirsities size 1, no nb Thirsties and it fit within the first few weeks, well before my guy was 9 lbs. But I did have a Blueberry, bummis and 2 rumoarooz in newborn size so I could wait the couple weeks for the Thirsties to fit perfectly.

the duos would have worked at birth on my 7lb8oz long and skinny baby, but we always reached for our actual nb sizes first. It was just a better fit.

Just to add, I think one of the main reasons we preferred the xs to the duos was that they were aplix instead of snap. Aplix really helps to get a good fit on a skinny nb.

We were able to use Thirsties Duo Wraps size 1 from the start (born 7lbs 7oz) and I really liked them but I'd recommend having more than one brand of covers since different things work better for different babies. We also had Rumparooz NB covers (which have rise snaps to fit for awhile but run a little smaller than the Thristies) and then were also able to use BestBottom OS covers after the cord fell off if we were running short on NB/size1 covers.
