Husbands and snoogles

So today was my birthday, and my mom got me a snoogle. I'm lying cradled in it right now and I'm pretty certain that I am actually nestled in the hands of a giant angel made of light and cotton candy.

DH hates it. He thinks it will take up too much space in the bed (although I sleep with three pillows that, IMO, take up way more space) and that it will be too hard to cuddle.

The reality of the situation is that he will deal with whatever makes me the most comfortable, because he is a loving and supportive partner. He might tease or grumble, but it won't be a real issue.

I'm curious, however, how other husbands feel about snoogles and what you do to make sleeping as comfortable and snuggly as possible.

  • DH hated that snoogle, but lucky for him, I ended up hating it too.  I just propped myself at a slight angle with long body pillows and that worked for everyone.

I'm an incredibly light sleeper so I can't stand cuddles at night. The second he moves or touches me I'm wide awake.
We actually bought a bigger bed recently so that we can sleep farther apart, which is great because I stay awake hours later than him and now I don't have to be still the whole time. So much room for activities!!
My cat also uses the unused bottom part of my snoogle. She gets accidentally kicked a lot, poor thing.
    Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

  • Haven't bought one yet, but DH is aware that day is coming soon. I've already warned him how much room these things can take up. I wish I could try them out beforehand though - not sure which one I will like best.

  • DH hated mine. I ended up hating it too, it took up so much space and I'd get all awkward and tangled in it at night under all my covers lol.

  • My boyfriend hates mine. He has said from the beginning that he hates it because it get's in the way of us cuddling and that it has "stolen" me from him. As time goes on he complains less about it and we've even found a position that makes it more comfortable for me to hold him while still using the snoogle.

  • @Whitfry‌ Happy Birthday! And I love your description of the snoogle!

Tonight will be my first night with my snoogle (sounds so intimate when I say it like that). So we had actually been on the fence about buying a king sized bed for a while and when our friends were talking about how much room the snoogle took up my husband became 100% sold on a king sized bed.

As a bonus my cat has also loved the larger bed (he is 20 lbs), and he always rests his little head on the pillow under my knees. I'm thinking he will enjoy the snoogle more than DH. I'll keep ya posted on how the night goes. Again, that sentence also sounds weird and intimate....
  • Yup my hubby hates it, but he deals with it. ;)
  • Happy birthday! My DH doesn't care about the snoogle, he's on board with whatever makes me happy. I however am on the fence about it. It's not east to move in the middle of the night under the covers and I like to roll side to side

  • DH didn't like it being being between us because he's a cuddler. So we switched sides of the bed. Now I can keep it on my left side and still be next to him.

DH pretends to hate mine..but I always seen to find him snuggled in it in the morning..just like he hates my "girly magazines" but yet they always seem to end up in the bathroom...
THIS! Haha. Although my H has never pretended to hate mine (I just got it), I just had to wrestle it away from him when I actually wanted to go to sleep. Then I slept with it and felt like it was too awkward. I felt like I was too constricted. I might revisit it when I start to get bigger.

Also, anytime I talk about the Snoggle he makes me say the word in a weird high pitched voice (I have no idea why) and then he repeats it. Yeah...

  • Happy birthday! I texted a picture of one to my H and he wrote back "so you're sleeping in the guest room then?" But for real, I already make a pillow fortress surrounding me, so he probably be better off with me getting it. I may ask him to get it for me for my bday. Lol

By the way your description of the pillow made me legit lol

  • Mine loves it too. We have a king bed so it doesn't take up too much room...and he is usually the one to sleep on it...somehow wrestling it from me in the middle of the night every night...

    Happy Birthday @Whitfry‌ !!!!!!
    Pregnancy Ticker Anniversary

  • Happy birthday @Whitfry‌ !

I don't have the snoogle. I have a body pillow that looks like a big horse shoe. I thought dh would hate it but it doesn't take up more room then i usually require when tossing and turning. This morning he was cuddling on the side i wasn't using. So win win.

    But it's OK. Because:

  • I'm getting one at the end of the week (for $10, try not to be jealous), and I'm doubting it will take up too much room since we have a king sized bed. When we bought our house the king bed was our first big purchase because he likes to sleep in the middle of the bed and now there's still enough room for me on the edge where I usually curl up.

Also, I'm currently using like 5 small pillows to sleep comfortably, so I'm almost positive husband will just be thrilled to have some of those pillows back on his side of the bed. I'm also more afraid of him just falling in love with the snoogle while I'm gone one weekend and not wanting to give it back.

    Happy Natal Day @whitfry!

  • The pillow situation in my bed is out of control. I have a snoogle which I love and two other pillows I sleep with. My hubs... He has 5 king pillows and a 45 lb body pillow. I get a small part of our king size bed while he and the pillows get the rest. Then he tells me that my snoogle is taking up too much room! Needless to say pillows and I do not have a good relationship and I have no idea what I'm going to do when I am 6+ months along since I'm already showing...
  • I love hearing everyone's feedback, and thanks for the bday wishes!

Last night was the first night in a week I've slept well, and woken with no body aches. I'm so happy I could cry. So the snoogle stays and I made DH admit that it doesn't take up more room than I usually do. We have a queen because a King would be too big for is to cuddle comfortably in, and space can be at a premium since I thrash and take up most of it. So I'm a pretty happy camper this morning.
  • My DH hates it but he is resigned to it since he had to deal with it when I was pregnant with DD.

However he doesn't think he'll fit on the bed as I get further along in this pregnancy since it's twins..so he's already planning on either sleeping in another room or bringing a twin bed in our room and sleeping on that.  More room for me!

  • I avoided getting one since I thought it would take up too much space in our queen bed, but I got one with his full support after keeping him up all night by rolling onto my boobs, realizing how much that hurts, and trying once again to get comfortable until I fall asleep and repeat the process.  That said, I've found him lounging against it when it's rolled up and placed where I'd keep my normal pillow.

I sleep with the long part along the outside edge of the bed, so it's not too bad (and I realize that 1/2 of it is hanging off the bed when I wake up).  I occasionally feel trapped by it, but we're both sleeping better this way.

  • My first night with the snoogle felt awkward. I could not get comfortable and eventually kicked it out of bed. It just felt so big and was hard to maneuver under the covers. Any advice on favorite sleeping positions with it? I usually sleep on my back with a pillow under my knees, or my side with a pillow between my legs.
  • I'm at sixteen weeks, so no more sleeping on my back. I sleep on my side and sort of curl myself around it, like I'm desperately spooning a cobra.
  • Definitely just ordered a Snoogle thanks to all the lovely descriptions.

The SO has only recently become a snuggler, and it makes me want to hurt him. I need my space!

I have been super uncomfortable at night, so I hope this brings on the Sandman!

I love mine but unfortunately I'm still trying to toss and turn in it which gets...interesting

DH doesn't seem to mind though, only if I whack him with it when I roll over.

  • So today we went to Chili's after work because it sounded good to DH. The waitress was a complete bitch and didn't know what she was talking about. She told me I could not order the one thing on the menu that I wanted, that also happens to be the same thing I always order. So I got cranky because of her attitude (she was unnecessarily rude, and I was making an effort to be polite) and made DH get his food to go and we left. Yes. I threw a mini-tantrum in a Chili's. Shut up.

DH felt bad, so I told him that if he didn't complain about the snoogle we would be even. So now I've almost got the high ground back. Aside from, you know, rage-quitting at a restaurant.
  • I love mine and this is what my husband thinks about it :
  • I dragged in a body pillow from college into bed hoping that would do the trick.
Woke up to DH and our 75 lbs bulldog cuddling the pillow...and I had a tiny corner of the bed. Fail.

But wishing you a very happy birthday and a sound snoogly sleep tonight!
  • My boyfriend actually bought me the Boppy Total Body pillow, and it's great! He threw it on the floor the first night though. I think he did that because it was taking up too much room. But it's back on the bed now, and I actually see him sleeping with it from time to time :).
  • Dh calls it the barrier between us in bed. That being said. I totally have caught him sleeping with it when I am out of bed!!! I will not give it up!
