STM...I actually think.I feel less prepared!

I have a three year old daughter but this time around I havent done anything as far as planning goes. Does anyone else feel very unprepared?

  • I am a third time mom. I feel prepared as far as clothes and toys go because th is one is a boy and so we're my first 2. I feel less prepared in the sense that I have to change the room that my 2 year old sleeps in and get him sleeping better through the night so I can have that room for the baby. And I need another dresser now. And im trying to finish a room in my house sobthere will be less clutter and therefore less chaos with a new baby. The biggest thing I am worried about is finding someone to watch the kids when my husband takes me to the hospital. Other than that, I have been thr I ghost labor twice now, so unless something happens that is unexpected, I don't feel a need to prepare for much. And if the unexpected does happen, then we will deal with it then. So in a sense it would be just like the first time not knowing what to expect. So I guess in answer to your question, I feel less prepared in my house, but pretty much just as prepared as before with the actual birth.
  • This is my second (DH's third) and I do not feel like I am nearly prepared for this one as I was for DD. We are having a boy this time and I don't have anything boy! (Thankfully most of the big stuff we got from DD were neutral colors so we can still use the pack and play, bouncer, high chair, and exersaucer. I picked up a double stroller at a garage sale but had to sell my stroller car seat combo to get the double stroller.) I was able to hit some Mom to Mom sales and got some clothes for him and the crib bedding. Today I picked up the diaper bag, but still have to get a car seat. I just cant find one that I like. I am really picky since I didnt care for my last one with DD. I still have to paint too (Well get my MIL to paint for me :D ) and get bassenet sheets. We still have to pick up the little things but we will probably save those for christmas filers.
  • I've done pretty much nothing to prepare for this one except buy a dresser, but I don't really feel like I NEED to do anything. Buy diapers. That's pretty much it. I have everything else. Mentally, however, I'm definitely not prepared and I'm freaking out about the fact that this kid will be here in less than 12 weeks whether I'm ready or not.

I actually feel just as prepared this time, with the exception of setting up the nursery. I have purchased a ton of clothes for DS, have about 20 + packages of wipes, about 10 packs of diapers, we have quite a few pacifiers, bibs and burp cloths, a bunting, towels, socks, washcloths, a tub, a boppy, all of his bedding and more! We have yet to order his furniture or buy a few final decorating pieces for his room but other than those things, we are doing good!
  • I need to stop nesting! I have more than enough crap for two newborns at this point. Lol!

I mostly just need to rearrange a couple drawers in my younger son's dresser so we can use them for the new baby. I also need to dig my cloth diapers out of storage and get them prepped. Other than that, we are ready to go.
  • I don't need much but I have done nothing to prep really. Except clean out the guest room. So baby's new room is just a big empty room right now. I need to get on the ball.

  • This will be my third... and I think I just have a more realistic idea of what I actually NEED.  I'll pick up some diapers.  That's about it.

  • I go back and forth trying to decide if I am prepared or not... I am going to have to make a list (ummm or several - work, home, Christmas, son's bday party) and tackle so many tasks a week... sigh life is just busier when you already have one kid, a job, a house and hubby to care for (well hubby helps with some house stuff). Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking ;). lol seriously though hopefully we will get all done so that when our little ones come we can enjoy!
  • I haven't done anything. I lent a bunch of NB stuff to my sister who had a baby in July. Hopefully she can send the clothes, swing, boppy, etc back in December. I was sure that one was enough and sold most of our baby gear. At least now I know that most of the stuff I got at my baby shower was useless. My son was a summer baby, so I'll have to get some warm NB sized clothes. I'm planning on getting a new pump since I'll be going back to work sooner and my old pump has gone through 3 babies.
  • Haven't done anything to prepare! 12 weeks left - I need to get my buns in gear!!
