If you wear glasses, come in

I'm forbidden from wearing my contacts for two months. I haven't worn glasses exclusively since 8th grade. I have two questions for you glasses wearers:

1. HowTF am I supposed to put on eye makeup, especially eye liner? Teach me.

2. How do I keep these things clean? Like every time I turn around there's a smudge or my eye makeup is on them or some other dirty nonsense. Help.

Re: If you wear glasses, come in

  • I would just do what you usually do to the best of your ability. Put them on in between to see how it's going. I'm assuming being able to see is the issue?

    Hahahaha hahahaa clean glasses.

  • I'd cry if I were forbidden to wear contacts for that long.  I was annoyed enough at two days.

You just get really really really close to the mirror for your makeup.

  • I use a magnifying mirror for makeup. I clean them with spray once I get to work as well. Keep bottles of cleaner in a fee key spots - your desk, car, and home bathroom. I find the cleaner works best with a tissue and then using a lint free cloth to wipe after the tissue.

The best way to clean your glasses is with a glasses cleaning spray and a special cloth avaiable at eyecare specialists. You can also use a clean 100% cotton material or 100% silk. Using a tissue can scratch your glasses. Any paper product is not the best. Also do not use Windex or harsh soaps. A mild dish soap is ok. And hairspray is IMPOSSIBLE to clean off your glasses so be careful.

I too keep bottle of spray and clean clothes in strategic spots such as the car, my purse, at work, and a could spots at home. Especially with LO, I now clean the at least 2 times a day.

I usually just lean uncomfortably over the vanity to get scary close to the mirror so I can see what I'm doing with my makeup. It usually isn't too pretty! And, I'm no help with #2. Mine are filthy.
This. I don't usually bother with eye liner though, on glasses wearing days

  • good thing i just don't shave my legs  =)) KIDDING!...

    ...kind of X_X

but yeah. i get super close to the mirror to do makeup.
and cleaning them? yeah. my t-shirt, sock, LOs onsie. whatever is soft and close and semi clean. I've been known to lick my glasses and then wipe them with a tshirt. gross. whatever. it gets the job done. ive been wearing glasses since i was 7--i don't have time for cleaners and link free cotton cloths.
and the shaving, I've learned to do by feel. weird i know, but thats what works for me.

    Uh, yes.

I asked because it wasn't clear if your were near/far sighted, and some people find their makeup/eyes look very different behind glasses and change what/amount of makeup they wear.

    Not because I'm an idiot.

Yeah, I didn't mean to respond like you were an idiot. So that makes me an idiot.

I haven't even considered how my eye make up looks behind glasses. I'm not sure I want to know since I can't see myself put it on.

    Good times, wearing glasses.

  • Why do you need to take a break from contacts?

I'd say you're probably pretty enough to not need makeup but people don't agree with me when I say those things.

I have a chronic eye infection that's caused by a virus that needs time to go away. It creates pockets of white blood cells in my corneas, and the contacts irritate that.
