Shoulder hurts from holding LO

This happened with my first two babies too.  I always carry them on my left shoulder, so my right hand is free (I'm right handed).  Starting last night I noticed that my left shoulder is sore.  It's from lifting up my arm to hold my baby on my shoulder.  I'm trying really hard to use my other shoulder and hold him different ways, but I just automatically lift him to that sore shoulder.

Any one else dealing with something similar?

Re: Shoulder hurts from holding LO

  • Yes, exactly the same! It'd do hard to throw her over my R shoulder though!

  • Yup. I feel like I'm a body builder on my left side and a 11 year old boy on the right. I try to alternate but its soooo hard!
  • Yes!! I see a chiropractor (which is amazing everyone should see one) and she always comments on how bad my shoulder is and my hips are twisted more to one side. I don't get pain just soreness.
  • Yup I'm mostly dealing with awful back pain. Combine carrying around the LO all day with the fact that I'm sleeping on the couch most nights, and the couch is not incredibly comfortable - yikes!!! I think I'll be moving the bassinet away from the side of our bed and putting his snugabunny chair there so I can get more rest in my own bed.

  • Yes, this is me too. With DD1, I ended up with terrible spasms from falling asleep holding her so often. I will go to the chiropractor before it gets that bad this time!
