Hi,

I am so glad this board was created!  I was lurking on Secondary IF a month or two ago but I didn't seem to fit in there yet as we were not seeing an RE. 

I just wanted to do a quick intro so I could begin posting.  I have been married for 6 years with a DS who just turned three.  It took us five months to conceive him without medical intervention.  We have been TTC since December but have short cycles at around 19-23 days that were previously 28-30 days.  It looks like we have only been TTC for around 9months but have had 11 cycles during that time.  All my testing is normal including an HSG and my husbands SA results are "excellent".  I seem to fall into the dreaded "unexplained" category of IF.  Am I wrong to want something to be wrong so we have something to fix?  Anyway, we have an RE appointment for the beginning of December.  Both the OBs I have seen think the RE will do injectables due to a short or inadequate luteal phase. 

This last month has been especially hard emotionally.  We decided to take some time off from TTC until the appointment.  It was consuming everything!  It also doesn't help that I am a Labor and Delivery RN.  Pregnancy is all around me at work!! 

Thanks so much in advance for having a place to vent and feel like I'm understood.  If I have to hear "just relax and it will happen" from one more person who got pregnant "just when my husband looks at me" I might scream! 

Any insight on what the first RE appointment looks like would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi and welcome! The unexplained category of IF is frustrating, so your feelings are well understood. Injectables and a trigger shot worked for me so it's not a bad option. You'll do a round of testing at your first appointment and talk a bit about your history. Based on your test results the RE will lay out some options for you. Hopefully you'll get a surprise BFP before your appointment.

    @Cheetara2‌ I would love a surprise BFP! My biggest fear about the RE is that I will have to "waste" more than one cycle on repeating testing like the HSG before I can start treatment. I feel more and more stressed and anxious about this the longer I go without a BFP. I feel additional pressure since my son just turned three!

    Welcome to the board. Bring whatever testing you have already have done with you. Our RE asked us a bunch of history questions, did a u/s and drew a bunch of blood work for the RPL panel. I'm sure you will have a different set of tests because it's more LPD related so I imagine you will get progesterone checked and have to come in for CD3 blood work. Hope the time passes quickly!
