Re: Breastfeeding check in
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 4months old, eats roughly every 2 hours day and night. A month ago she use to do 6hour stretches, then we went through a few weeks of nursing every 1-2hours at night. The last 2 nights it was every 3 hours. I really hope it sticks.
EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF
Raves and rants? I think I created a very bad habit with nursing to sleep. It's works like a charm getting DD down for naps and bedtime but now she has no idea how to self soothe. So at night she wakes up after every sleep cycle, every 1-2hours and can't go back to sleep without nursing. It is exhausting! At this point I don't even have the energy to try to get her to sleep any other way.
When are you planning to start solids? Planning on doing baby led weaning at 6months.

Anyone have a magical trick to quit nursing to sleep and get my LO to STTN?!?
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? DD will be 4 months on Friday (9/19). She goes about 4 hours in between eating during the day. She may wake up once to eat at night, but sometimes she sleeps the whole way through. I think last night was probably our best night - she slept from 7:45 pm - 6:50 am.
EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF on weekends/mornings/nights and DD gets bottled BM at DC (is this considered EBF?)
Raves and rants? Rave: I love that DD is so much more aware of her surroundings and she must know what is going on - she is so nosy! I'm also extremely happy that I've almost made it 4 months of BF. Rant: Why won't she nap?! She seriously will nap for maybe 45 min - 1 hour on the weekends TOTAL! I think DC lies to be about these supposed 2 hour naps.
When are you planning to start solids? Probably around 6 months. I may wait until after Thanksgiving just because I don't want the pressure from the family at the table about letting her try everything at Thanksgiving. Talking to the pedi on Thursday about BLW, etc.
Anything else you want to share? My office door locks, but I still have a look of sheer terror whenever someone knocks & I'm pumping. DD has a cold. I think its from DC. She's also managed to get DH and I sick too. I hate waking her up in the mornings to leave for DC. The hands-free bra (for pumping at work) is amazing.
Good, worried my supply might be dropping but I may just be paranoid

He will be 4 months tomorrow. Used to sleep 7-8 hours at a time but when we moved him to the crib at 13 weeks, that stopped. Now he sleeps from 8:30-8 with a feed around 1 and 4. During the day he eats every 3 hours. It seems from above that babies that eat more during the day are the ones sleeping at night
EBF, EP, supplementing?
EBF. Pumping at work 3 days a week. It is hard to do it every 3 hours. Sometimes I go 4 hours. I work 12 hr shifts and if it gets busy, I go too long. I'm afraid this is diminishing my supply. When I BF during the day, sometimes he cries when I take him off. He stops with the binky. Not sure if this is because he is sleepy and wants to comfort suck, or if this is because he isn't getting enough. Any ideas? Is 4 hours far too long?
When are you planning to start solids?
We have our 4 month appointment Friday, so I'm sure she will let us know. Plan on BLW.

Just that I'm so happy LO is starting to be more social and I love when he looks up at me and smiles while nursing. I'm trying to take mental pictures so I can remember these moments.

She'll be 4 months on Thursday! Wow! She goes about 2.5-4 hrs during day. This past week was rough with wakeups but on a good night she'll only wake up once
EBF, EP, supplementing?
BF at home, pumping at work, and supplementing. I'm in an odd transition phase and some days I think things would make more sense if I stop BFing. My supply is supper low and I'm not sure it's worth the effort anymore to continue. No I haven't tried everything possible to increase the supply but still wish it were there.
Raves and rants?
Rave: when I BF at home I still use the boppy most of the time. Didn't have it with me the other day so I had her sit more upright and feed which gives her better eye contact. She pulls off and just looks at me with a giant grin.. It was as if all of a sudden she was like 'oh hey- you are my mom' and ' oh it's been you this whole time'. Totally melted my heart.
Rant: so I mentioned the pulling off... It's like LO is practicing the nipple stretch for the Presidential Fitness Challenge.
When are you planning to start solids?
6 months probably. Will talk to Pedi at her appt on Friday. Um BLW... Give a baby a pork chop?! I had no idea this was happening so will ask about that I guess.
Anything else you want to share?
I'm going on vacation in 3 weeks and am considering dropping the daytime feeding/pumping and only BFing at night and in morning. Maybe vacation will be a good time to dump the pump. I'm really proud I've made it 4 months, almost 3 exclusively but I think it might be time to let go. Of corse just writing that makes me change my mind....
@lica001 I breastfed DD before bed until I weaned after 1 year. I refused to give that up. At some point I just started making sure she was awake before I put her down. I plan to do the same with DS.
How old? How long between feedings? Longest night stretch? 3.5 months. 3ish hours between feedings. We can get a atretch of 6-7 hours at night... our every 2 hours.
Ebf (plus pumping at work)
Rants and raves? We're getting into our groove. Plus I donated my first batch of milk.
Starting solids? 6 months. I'm not starting the hassle earlier than I have to.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? She's 4.5 months. Every three hours or so during the day. We get a 5-6 hour stretch on a good night. It's hit or miss these days.
EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF, then trying whatever method possible to get expressed milk into her while I'm at work.
Raves and rants? Went to feeding therapy since she wont take a bottle. Speech therapist said there was nothing wrong with her structurally, and her motor control was great, that she was refusing because she doesn't want it, period. Working on straw/cup training now.
When are you planning to start solids? Because of aforementioned issues, we've actually already started oatmeal. She mostly pushes it out with her tongue, but if we can get her to take some, it may keep her from being so fussy/hungry while I'm at work.

@katsmewsings I'm sorry you're having a rough week. We had some sleep regression issues, and I think it's so much worse than when they're newborn, because you already know what it's like when they sleep long stretches. I hope things get better soon!
@usernameedit I am wondering why pumping is uncomfortable... Do you use lanolin or something beforehand to cut down on friction? Are you sure the flanges are the right size? Is the suction too high? Just curious, because pumping is a PITA, but I don't think it should be uncomfortable.
@haylo33 I work 12 hour shifts also. I usually get 3 pumps in, but a few times I've only gotten to pump twice. So I think I've gone 5 hours or more. So far I haven't had any supply issues. If you find yourself getting very engorged frequently, you may have issues because this sends your body the message that you don't need as much milk. However, if this doesn't happen very often, you hopefully wont run into any problems.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 16 weeks. Daily intervals still vary between 1-3 hours. At night, the longest stretch we've ever had is 6 hours, 15 minutes. I'm happy to get 5. It's usually around 3.5 to 4.
EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF and pumping once a day, trying to do a daily practice bottle with the nanny. He is still hit and miss about taking one from her.
Raves and rants? Rant: I still have concerns about the inconsistency with the bottles. It gives me a lot of anxiety to leave him. Rave: Everything else is going well. Although it is inefficient as hell, I love that he pulls off and smiles at me 2 dozen times a feeding.
When are you planning to start solids? 6 months. I'm going to talk to my pedi at the 4 month checkup to get his thoughts on BLW.
Anything else you want to share? My baby bit at the nanny's boob the other day. I guess they all look alike underneath a hoodie?? At first I thought it was funny and then it made me a little sad that he wanted any ol' boob and not his mommy's! I'm ridiculous.
Oh! Edited to add this. Last week I had a brief period of clogged duct I think. The lower half of my left was hard and the whole thing was so painful. I couldn't even hold my LO on that side. I massaged it like crazy and after the next nursing, it felt better. I only dealt with that for a few hours - I still can't believe how some of you have endured ongoing pain and are still BFing - bravo!!

DD will be 17 weeks on Thursday. She eats every 2 hrs during the day and sleeps 10-12 hrs at night.
EBF. I wish she'd take a bottle every now and then, but she refuses.
I hate that I have such horrible anxiety about nursing away from home. It's really been getting to me lately. I'm so tired of planning my life in 2-hr increments.
I'm not even going to think about solids till at least 6 months. I'll put off the extra work, mess, stinky poop and diaper rashes as long as possible.
