Baby kicks.

I'm pregnant with my first baby I'm due feb 8. And I'm about 19 weeks and 3 days. I'm curious when should I be feeling him kick. It starts to worry me.

Re: Baby kicks.

  • Lay on your stomach on your bed. If you pay close attention, it'll be easier to feel the baby.

  • Did you hear a heartbeat at your last appointment? And will you be going in for your mid pregnancy ultrasound in the next couple of weeks?  If you've heard the heartbeat at your last appointment then there is very little to worry about.  FTMs tend to feel kicking and movement a bit later than STM+.   I remember with my first not feeling kicking until after my ultrasound (back then we only got one around 22 or 23 weeks).

You'd also be surprised at how easy those early kicks can be dismissed as gas or other digestive noises. I've had some gas before that I could have sworn felt like a baby kicking. And I've had baby kicking that felt like gas. So sometimes it's hard to distinguish between them.  You'll be feeling kicking before you know it. :)

  • When I had my 19 week appointment this week my dr said not to worry about not feeling for sure movements yet, he said in the next week or 2 it should become more obvious. I'm a ftm too. It was weird though to not feel anything during the ultrasound when we could see that he was clearly moving.
