Kinds gross but DH and i got into a debate about it. I empty the babies poopy diaper (we use sposies, not cloth) into the toilet and flush the poop if I can. then throw away the diaper. DH thinks this is a waste of time and i should just throw the whole thing away. wdyd (most of the time)?

I flush the poop when I am able to wrangle the baby easily enough but often I just am lazy and toss in the trash.

  • I throw the whole thing away. With him taking miralax everyday flushing it would require me scraping it out which is just gross. MIL flushes when she can though.

  • I would have to scrape my babies poop out. Lol. So no I don't. He rarely has turds that aren't squished. So that seems like a lot of work. I know that you're not supposed to put poop in the garbage. But we do :-S
  • We flush the poop when it's solid enough to easily dump.  Our diaper changing station is set up on the bathroom counter so it's easy enough to do.  We also toss our diapers into a regular trash can instead of a diaper genie type contraption so it helps with odor issues if we flush the poop.
  • I vaguely remember us having a conversation early on about disposable vs cloth where disposable users were told we always need to flush poop because it's a biohazard...

    I just toss them..

  • I only flush because it helps limit the smelliness of the diaper pail.

  • Nope, I even throw panties away with poop when potty training. They aren't that expensive.
  • I think MIL does it when she can because she doesn't have a diaper genie. If she can't, then she puts it in newspaper sleeve I think and ties it to prevent the smell.

  • We use disposables off and on, during washing of cloth or away from home for the weekends......The only thing that's shitty about cloth is the shit so when I use disposables I'm all "woop woop, no scraping poop!!!"

  • Ummmm... Never heard of flushing the poop with a disposable diaper. I thought that was the advantage of disposables.
  • I wrap up the diaper really tight and throw it in the diaper genie unless we're at someone else's house. Then I flush the poop first because I figure it's courteous to not stink up their trash with my baby's poo.

  • I don't flush DD's because it's mushed to the diaper. I flush DS's because it's solid and smells horrible. There is no way I'd be able to throw it in the trash.
