Re: Pregnancy Check-in 9/15

  • It's been awhile since I last checked in (who knew chasing a toddler around would be so busy?).  I've been feeling okay for the most part, biggest issue I have had since about week 17 was pain in my pelvic bone ... and it's just getting worse as the baby gets heavier.  Can't believe there's still about 2 months of it!  I feel like we should be doing more to prepare ... but we should have everything we need ... I hope?!

Fall is my favorite season!  I love the smells, the leaves, and the not freezing cold yet days.  =)

  • I'm trucking along.  Recently learned that we're having a baby boy so that's exciting :) The name we have selected is Graham Jeffrey.  Nothing much to report... 15 weeks and still doing fine.  Still no weight gain so that's good.  Waiting for my bladder problems to cease since I heard rumors that your uterus rises during second tri.  Hoping that's true because I hate having to get up to pee every 3-4 hours.

QOTW: I love this time of year for the cooking!  I'm working through a half bushel of apples making and freezing apple pie filling so I can make pies for my family.  I love making beef stew, chili, macaroni and cheese, roasted chicken... fall food is the best.

  • I am 27w5d today and feeling pretty good.

I had my glucose test this morning and it wasn't as bad as I heard it was going to be. I drank it in 2 minutes and was well on my way to my 1 hour wait. :) My Dr. said she will call me tomorrow with the results. I'm kind of nervous, I really hope I pass with flying colors.

QOTW: Fall? Whats Fall? I live in California and the next week of temperature is sitting in the 90's. Oh, and did I mention its also humid. Sigh. I just looked at the temps for the rest of the month and it doesn't drop into the 70's at all until at least October. Maybe some day we will move out of Cali and into a state where we actually experience seasons. :)
  • Hi!

DW is 21 weeks and has been having a lot of movement and Braxton Hicks contractions.  Hopefully it is just her uterus growing and not a cranky, irritable uterus.  She feels pretty good and has such a cute little bump!

We are second guessing our name, which is a little hard, but totally understandable.  Better to be really, really sure than second-guessing after she is born!

QOTW: I second @rkbo: what is fall? Here in Hawaii it has been hot as can be.  I can tell fall is in the air by the slightly cooler nights, but it still feels so very hot.  I'm ready for REAL fall, Oregon fall.  I love soup and wearing my coats and jackets and my beloved wooly and fleece hats. That does NOT happen here.  But soon, I hope, we can have a real fall with our babies, putting them in puddle-jumpers and taking our umbrellas as we walk to the store in the rain.  Yay!  Yep, that's what I miss: chilly days where you get cold and then feel warm with soup and a hot drink.

  • 11w3days today.

Nothing major to report.  We were referred to our new Dr and the first appt is 1 Oct.  So that's pretty exciting.  I hope we have another ultrasound done then.  It's been a while since we've heard the babies heartbeat, so it would be nice to see what's going on in there.

QOTW: I love the changing colours and the crispness in the air.  I'm a hoodie kind of girl, so it's actually my fav season.  It's too bad that we do not have maple trees in Alberta.  Because there are no red leafs, only yellow.

    I'm 35, DW is 33

  • Hi!
We had our glucose test last week and everything was all clear... And I agree with @rkbo it was not as horrible as I thought.... Just like really strong kool aid...
We are already to 2 week appointments and that feels soooo crazy.
We also met with our doula to continue our hypnobirthing classes... We adore her. Between my wife and the doula, I feel like I will be really well cared, and advocated for! We watched several
childbirth videos and they were quite graphic and a little unnerving... I guess that's what we signed up for... And I am working through my feelings on the subject.
Other than that... Here we are in the third trimester! Crazy!

QOTD: I love fall... LOVE! I am not a huge pumpkin spice person... But I love almost everything else... The colors, the weather, the smells, the apples, and so much more!

  • I am 16w2d I think (?).  Went in for my first cervical check last Wednesday and got a surprise external u/s too.  Baby looks good and has a strong heart beat and my cervix was measuring at 4cm which MFM said is good.  Only small red flag was that my placenta was sitting closer to the cervix then they would like to see so they will be watching that.  I am going in for weekly appointments for the next month and have another cervical check as well as my 16w appointment on Wednesday.

As far as the p17 I got a call saying it was approved paid for the first 28day supply which should have been overnighted and have yet to receive it and on top of that got a letter from my insurance saying it wasn't approved.  The MFM says if I don't get on p17 soon (which she wanted me on at 14w) she is just going to throw a stitch in to be safe.  This makes me nervous because putting an unneeded stitch in increases chances of infection.  I just have to trust that as a MFM she knows best.  I also need to figure out why I got charged for medication I never received.

QOTW:  Loving watching the leaves change color my drive to work is beautiful in the fall.  Also love apple picking and baking with said apples.  R and I may go apple picking this week (well if I can convince her to).

  • Hi all!

Still in the hospital.  Admitted Wednesday and was supposed to go home today.  I got all dressed in normal clothes and sorted my stuff to leave and, unfortunately, told our kids I was coming home.  Mistake.  Had ultrasound/doppler to check on baby girl's placenta issues and there's been a decline.  No going home.  Upped dopplers (check her umbilical cord, abdomen, and eventually MCA/middle cerebral artery) to determine blood flow from baby to placenta is sufficient.  She has moments of absent flow, which is not good, and has affected her growth a lot recently.  Baby boy is oblivious and has no growth or placenta issues.  The plan is to monitor daily and if/when the decline gets severe enough, they come out.  She has been using her energy for that and not for growing so she will likely be in the low 4 lb range at delivery.  Good news is I'm about to turn 35 weeks and though it would mean NICU time, they are at a safe gestational age for delivery, if that's what's best.  Tired of being in the hospital but logically, I know it's the right place to be right now.

QOTW: LOVE fall.  Favorite season.  We live in the mountains at high elevation and we have an amazing autumn here.  Tourist season.  Extra exciting this year because we've waited 9 months for fall since babies were due in the fall so having it arrive means we're so close to meeting them.

  • 18w2d...wow time is flying! We had our anatomy scan last Monday and discovered 2 boys. We still have the SCH, but Sarah has stopped bleeding. Can still see it on ultrasound and will likely be there the whole time. Mfm at Duke didn't seem worried about that.

2 small red flags were low lying placenta, but not by much and she is optomistic that it will continue to move up. The 2nd was a little scary. When looking at baby B's cord and belly, they discovered he has swallowed some of the blood from the SCH. This should resolve itself. We were told not to worry. Other things it could be were infection (which she doesn't think so because both babies would have it) or the scary one... Cystic fibrosis. We will check him at the growth scan in 2 weeks and see if it's resolving. She really feels it's just swallowed blood from the SCH though.

We had a gender reveal party Sat that was so much fun! Sunday we went and picked out cribs and dresser. I basically have first 3 weeks in oct. To get room ready.

On a fun note...I am taking a girls vaca for an overnight this sat at the beach!!! Basically an excuse for margaritas on the beach all day!

Qotw: Only fall weather we've had was Sunday and today. Back up to 90 tomorrow. Nights are getting cooler though. I love football, warm fall days with a cool breeze and nighttime hoodies! Snuggling on the couch with windows open in the house! Evening walks that you don't sweat to death. Our bright colored maple trees in the backyard. Fall break!!!! Wvu football games with the wife and inlaws! We didn't get the channel so we skyped with father in law to watch it sat before our party. Lol.

    10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
    8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!!  TWINS!!!!

7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations!  Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage.  Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.
  • Hi!! 15w6d over here and feeling great! Finally starting to show a little and I pretty sure that I can feel as
Little flutters about twice a day. Used to think it was has, but the doc said it's probably the baby! As a FTM I don't know the difference! Had a check up last week and all looked good. Have a follow up blood test and so I next week at 17 weeks to screen for chromosomal defects but doc expects all to be good. And will have have out 20 week anatomy scan soon. Really excited for that!!

Fall isy absolute favorite season!! I love the cooking, the beer (when I was able to drink it) and my wife loves the football. It's the best time of year!!!

  • sorry Ive been MIA!!!

we are 18weeks today. 2 (excruciatingly long) weeks til we find out whether it's a girl or a boy! we are planning a reveal party for the day after- we will find out at the same time as the family.
We borrowed a doppler so we can listen to the baby's heart whenever- the only downfall is that he/she is always hiding WAY in my stomach :-P

So much going on with our anniversary this weekend and DW's bday next month.

Healthwise i dont even feel pregnant except i am super tired and a little winded.

Fall = DW's bday, my bday and tons of fun activities that we never quite end up getting to.... LOL.

  • Hey, missed last week as was quite busy.  Hope everyone doing well?

Started feeling pregnant this week.  Not sure at what point I woke up and just felt different - it just kinda crept up on us.  It's good in most ways but... now that we've settled into our stride, it's starting to get more real that we are 1week away from the point my baby sister was born.  I try not to make such a big thing of it around A but the possibility of history repeating itself really scares me.  Especially since this is my first pregnancy and we have no history of my own to go on.

Had appointment with midwife yesterday and heard baby's heartbeat for the first time.  Lol, baby was calm all morning but the minute that doppler hit my belly, she was cartwheeling, kicking and generally being as un-cooperative as possible.  She doesn't like being disturbed.  My bp was 98/62, which is a little low but still healthy.  They're watching that closely now on account of my only having one kidney.
