Help me with our boy's name

What do you gals think about the names

Van David

Remington David (Remy) ???

Re: Help me with our boy's name

  • I'm not a big fan of Van David because it sounds like a Dutch last name. I like Remy ok, but Remington is actually the last name of someone I know so it's hard for me to see it as a first name :)

  • My husband likes the name Remy. I think it's very unique!
  • Thanks for the reply (David is actually the middle name) Its so hard to pick a good and different name for a boy.
  • Of the two listed, I prefer Remington David.

  • Both of these names would not be my style, why not use David?

  • David is my husbands name and I am not into the naming your son the same name as his father thing...just not for me.  Plus I don't want a name that I can relate back to someone I know...so this basically means no 'normal' names.
  • I like Remington David. It's a very strong sounding name. But it makes me think of Remington Steel.

  • Are you naming an action hero or a baby?  I'm not a fan of either.
  • I don't really like either, I'm sorry.  Remington just reminds me of the shave.
  • I really dislike both.
  • not a fan of either. ?first thing i thought of with remington was razors.

This was my thought too. Both names are NMS at all. You can have a different name without naming your child a kind of vehicle or after a 1980s detective show.

  • I'm not really liking either one. Remington is better than Van, but it reminds me of razors.

I think a kid with either name would be picked on. Would you want to go through the awkward teen years with a name like Van or Remy?

  • I really dont like Van or Remington.  Remy is ok.

Honestly, this was my thought too.  Van sounds very incomplete -- it's generally the first part of a last name, not a first name.  And Remington just brings to mind Remington Steel.

  • I don't like Remington at all.  I immediately think of Remington Steele.

I don't like Van either.  How about Vaughn?  (Or is Van pronounced like Vaughn?)

  • Not a fan of either.?
  • Hmmm...I'd either go with Remington Steele, or Van Morrison.  David is NMS.
  • It's funny that everyone said that Remington makes them think of razors.  It makes me think of guns.  I wouldn't use it.

On a funny note, I met a 5 year old little boy named Remington the other day.  His speech wasn't the best and I thought he said his name was Wormington.  I called him Wormington 3 times before he made it clear.  LOL

  • Sorry, I don't like either one. What about Vance? Van does sound incomplete to me also.
  • I think either one of them would be perfect for a character on a soap opera. A real person, not so much.?

    Ditto.

  • Neither of them is my style, but I don't really mind them for someone else. Remington feels really heavy though, and the only Remy I know is a girl. I don't know... it could grow on me (for someone else).

OMG this reminds of a woman I knew who named her son Remy because she was drunk on Remy Martin when she conceived him. The other son was Cayman because she conceived him in the Cayman Islands.

Dammit, I knew I should have named Marisa "The Woodlands."  Ooooh...if I conceive our next kid where we live now, I can call him or her "Pfluger!"  Strange spelling? Check.  Horrible conception tie? Check.  Unique?  Check.  I can't wait to tell DH!

    LOL! Excellent!

Yes, because every kid loves a daily reminder of where and how his parents had sex! ?

  • I'd go for Remy. Or even better, just David.
