Doubting

My LO is 6 weeks and I feel like I am doing it wrong! It seems like all I do is feed her and try to get her to sleep when she's drowsy at the boob. But then she wakes after a short time or when I try to move her and screams because she is hungry. So then we eat and repeat all day. There is no "activity" in there anywhere. Is this right? Am I missing something?

My DD is almost six weeks and has been eating a ton and sleeping a ton (except at night, when she only wants to eat, ahhhhh). Our activity time has also become limited...I attribute it to the 6 week growth spurt! I still read and sing to her when she is sleeping and also put music on if it is during the day. Hang in there, I hope we get more activity time and way less screaming time soon.

Don't stress! NBs don't need to "do" anything except eat, sleep, and be held and loved. Talk and sing to your LO, tell them about the world, etc but no need for an activity at this age..

This is exactly what I needed to see. My whole day has been spent trying to get DS to settle He has slept for a total of about an hour since 9. I feel like I'm doing something wrong here because I'm not trying to play with him, just trying to get him to stop constantly fussing.

This is completely normal! Newborns and babies over 12 weeks are totally different creatures. So that fun 5 month old you can sort of play with? It's coming.

You will mentally block the suckage somewhere down the road.

Activity? The most I do is a couple minutes of tummy time.

I needed this thread. My DS has been doing the same all day and I feel like I am going nuts. He will eat, act like he is done and going to sleep, then be up 10 min later looking for a boob again. Then he will spit up everywhere. I try to burp him regularly. He hasnt slept > 30 min all day. He is asleep now laying on his side swaddled on the Boppy that's on my lap. I don't dare move him. I have had to do 5 S's multiple times. I feel like a failure. I also have mastitis so that's just wonderful.

@SoSayWeAll‌ Sounds like a really rough day, but you're definitely not a failure. The responses here reminded me that we're all doing our best to figure things out. Hoping for a better day for you tomorrow!

I am feeling this too. I also being a FTM find myself saying "its so hard to take care of a person that you have no idea how to take care of" its a lot of guess work and I'm scared to get it wrong. Like she has been in newborn diapers at 1 month tomorrow... tonight I noticed red irritated skin on the edges where her diaper would hit...I put cream on them and switched to size 1. She had a bit of a red rash looking on her bum...I'm terrified it will only get worse. I feel bad that she has a rash.
