lonely new routine

Without sounding selfish, is anyone else feeling a little lonely being housebound with a newborn? I am a very active person who likes to get out all the time(I also have a 3 year old son) and now I feel housebound. LO nurses often plus too new to bring everywhere and I know it gets better, just wondering if this is a common feeling.

    Yes, it is normal. I tried to do Target runs, walks and get together with friends. Now that I'm back at work I feel a lot better. I'm only part-time so I get lots of DD time too.

    ^ This ^ I will add that being at home has been lonely for me also. Don't get me wrong, I love being home with my daughter (5 weeks this past Friday) but I have found maternity leave to be a very isolating experience. As hard as it will be leaving her to return to work, I am looking forward to the social aspects of working outside the home. For now I try to have lunch dates with friends a couple days a week, trips to target and the grocery store help too. I'll be working 4 days a week when I go back. I think part time work would be the perfect balance for me but that's not an option right now.

    It is lonely.  And it's okay to feel that way.  I'm back at work now, but home alone with LO 3 days a week (DH works weekends), and I get lonely on those days unless I make an effort to get out and see people.

    I feel the same way. My LO is 3.5 weeks old and I am not going back to work until mid October. I am a very active person and being home bound is driving me crazy.

    yes I always thought being home from work would be fun and w/ a baby would be amazing, but agree that I feel lonely too. going from working, hh, dinners out , shopping and now sitting at home w/ LO its so different.. and since he's not on any sort of sleep sch, sometimes 2 hrs, sometimes 30 mins sometimes 4 hrs, it is hard to bring him out... the one time I did he screamed bloody murder for 30 mins straight.... I hope soon we can step out w/out any fussy so I won't feel so lonely at home...

    I remember in the beginning I was too chicken to NIP and going out wasn't worth the risk of him getting hungry, but once I tried NIP and realized no one cares I'm so much more comfortable getting out and doing whatever with him

    I would keep going out- walks, stores, etc. You will go crazy staying in. I was miserable during my first maternity leave- really miserable and lonely. With my second, I was out a lot and was way better!

    I agree with you. It does get lonely, but try to schedule time out with a friend for lunch or ask a friend or family member to come over and hang out with you. I did this and also did errands after feeding the baby to make sure he would be satisfied while we were out.

    Yeah I don't really have family around and almost all of my friends work. At times I do have someone around but I am slowly starting to get out to do an errand,etc. I know it will get better.
