Hello!
I live in Vacaville, Solano County. I'm from the other side of the country so I do not have much in the way of a female support network here. Recently an aquaintance battling post partum depression confided with me that her biggest regret in parenting is that she made no effort to join a local mommy group. She said she felt like it was too late to bond into a group now that her first child is 2 and looking back she could really see how important a group would have been for her sheer sanity.
I understand that many hospitals offer programs where they assign you into a local mommy group and make it easy to network. I was an OB coordinator at my current (military) hospital and I can assure you that is not offered here.
How do you find a mommy group in your local area? Online is great...but I think an actually group would be better.
Is anyone interested in starting a local Feb 2015 mommy group?
If you have an insight on starting a local group (maybe you've joined on of your own), please share!
I'm a FMT and I really have no experience with mommy group joining/start up but I'm sure it could be beneficial. I would imagine a few of us would just meet up at the mall once a month. How hard could it be?
Re: Any moms in the Northern California Area?
I'm pretty darn southwest of you, in Monterey. But I definitely think you should find a group. Stroller striders, MOPS, are good groups to look into. Also check with your parks and rec dept or adult school. I think groups often form on craigslist also. Though of course, you might be finding a group of chain saw murders or nudists on craigslist.
