Boba Baby Carrier?

Anyone use this?  I'm looking at the 4G carrier.

I used the Moby with my other sons (mostly for my 2nd).  I like it, but the Boba looks like it may be easier.  Sometimes the Moby fits too loose or too tight, depending on how you put it on and tie it.

I tried using the Moby for my 6 week old yesterday, and unless he's sleeping, it's hard to get his head supported in it.  I can't remember when I started to use the Moby with my other boys, but I think they had more head support.  It looks like the Boba would support the head better.

Any feedback at all?

(I may XP this...not sure which boards would have the most input)

Re: Boba Baby Carrier?

  • I was strongly looking between the beco and bona. My cousin has beco and loves it, but I think I'm leaning towards the boba 4g. I found this chart helpful, if overwhelming! Also a little out of date, but still useful!

  • I'm looking at getting the Boba too. A friend lent me her Moby. I also have a hard time with the head support. So I'm following this thread!

  • I have a Boba 4G and we love it! There is a little hood that gives some head support and shades them from the sun. However my LO is only 3 weeks and her head still slumps to the side unless its on the tightest setting. She falls asleep almost instantly when she goes in it!

Yeah, it's pretty easy. I generally keep the shoulder straps a little loose when I put her in, then snap the clip between my shoulders (that might be tricky for some, but I've been able to clip it myself without a problem) then tighten the shoulder straps from there. It's probably a good idea to have someone help you the first time you use it, so you can get the fit settings set for you, but then you should be good to go from then on out.

  • Okay, I got my Boba.  I only received it yesterday, but I played around with it today while my son was awake.  My first thoughts are...I don't like it!

I bought it from Abby's Lane (an online cloth diaper store).   They have a 30 day program where you can try it out, and if you don't like it you can return it for a full refund (minus shipping it to them).

So...my biggest problem is that the adjustment buckles rub under my arms.  I've played around with it and I cannot get them in a comfortable position.  If they are up higher on my back, then the carrier front isn't tight enough.

I don't really love the hood that is supposed to support their head, it acts more as a shade and not really a head support for the little ones.

My baby didn't like it!  He started crying after he was in it for a few minutes.  I wondered if he was just fussy or hungry, so I put on my Moby wrap and put him in there.  He fell asleep!

I'm actually loving my Moby more now.  We took a walk in the woods (near a local park) with the baby in it a few days ago.  He was so comfy he slept the whole time.  I was comfortable too.  I fixed the head support issue in the Moby by having him a little higher on me, the Moby fabric is up near his neck.  Once he falls asleep I take some of the shoulder fabric and put it over his head, and it's secure.

So...I'm not sure what I'll do.  I'm leaning toward returning it and just using the Moby.  My husband wants to try adjusting it with me tonight to see if I can get it more comfortable.

I used the Moby with my 2nd until he was a year.  I'm thinking that the Moby should be fine to use again.  It's so comfortable to wear, after comparing it to the Boba, I'm happier with the Moby.  Plus, the Boba was $125.  The Moby was about $40.  For $125 I want something I love!

If my opinion changes at all I'll let you guys know, but I don't see myself loving it.

@Valancyy‌ I Love the Moby! For neck suplort I just gently bounce/sway DS until he is relaxed enough (he has a strong neck) to guide his head flat against my chest and then pull one of the sides over his head to secure his neck. He doesn't like it much for about a minute and squirms, but then he fets used to it and promptly passes out. :)
@stoofewok:  Yes, I am re-discovering my love for the Moby.  It's all I used with my 2nd son.  I used the Moby today for a couple of errands, and it's so much easier than the stroller.  I can maneuver and keep track of my other kids.  And my son pretty much always falls asleep in it too!
