Re: Books for LO

  • Goodnight Michigan, Goodnight Colorado, Goodnight Oregon and Goodnight Montana. All the places DH and I used to live (they don't have a goodnight Alaska). They are really cute books.
  • Loading the player...
  • Bubble Trouble, On The Night Your Were Born (makes me cry, so sweet), The Tickle Tree.We pretty much read whatever his sister has, and those are the current faces.

  • I hate when DD brings "On the night you were born", @Lilygrace48‌! I get so choked up.

Karen Katz lift the flap books are good. Also "I Love You Through and Through" is cute. There is a companion book, but I can't think of the title offhand.
  • Everyone MUST buy Boss Baby. It's amazing. We also read I love you through and through every night.

  • Sleep Baby Sleep is a favorite and I'll love you forever would be great if I could not ugly cry over it.
  • Good Night Moon and Blueberries for Sal. I think LO is hyperactive and getting her to look at books is tough. Those two I can almost recite, which she seems to like.

  • I need to look for this "on the night you were born" book. I don't know that one. I read to Henry nightly and will probably do it more during the day too but he also likes dr Seuss and potty time for chickies and baby danced the polka. Dh and I get super ores with those so at night I've been reading grimms fairy tales. He likes the cadences if my voice so the longer stories are good for now.

Same here, I get chocked up half way through it.
She like little Einstein nursery rhymes, and brown bear brown.

  • We're in the Seuss camp. Her bedtime story is Dr. Seuss' Sleep Book. Looking to get many more, as we only have about 5.

Actual baby books are so short and we both love story time so I'm skipping over a lot of the smaller ones.

  • Anything Robert Munsch!
  • Another here that can't get through "on the night you were born" without crying. We also love Dr Seuss and Sandra Boyton. Right now, her favorite is 5 Little Pumpkins. We read this a couple times a day and she will let out giggles... It's the cutest.

  • His favorite book right now is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, followed by Bear Story (an abc book my parents bought him from Alaska. I will need to look into other books suggested though because they sure get old after awhile.

  • Anything that rhymes. Mostly Dr Seuss but sometimes I read her the poems of shel Silverstein too when she isn't interested in looking at pictures.
  • You are my I Love You; Going to Bed Book; do You Love Me Mama; dr Suess ABCs.
I can't get through I love you forever without crying because Regis was the book my mom read to me and have said that saying for years!
  • So thanks for making me cry in the kids section of Barnes and Noble today... added "On the Night You Were Born" to the library! Also "Pig Kahuna" and a collection of nursery rhymes and fairy tales.

  • Mine loves Dr Seuss which is good cause she inherited my collection from when I was a kid. She also loves the Elephant & Piggie books by Mo Willems & I do too, they're so cute!
  • Thanks for all the book recommendations everyone! I just added a lot of them to my Amazon wish list! My LO is just now becoming interested in books, and the English teacher in me is so excited!
  • @Jenn111211‌ ha. I did the same exact thing.

  • So I went to Target to pick up a couple things and after reading this thread I bought a copy of "On the Night You Were Born", cant wait to read it to LO tonight.
One of our favorites is "Guess How Much I Love you" and she loves to look at the Karen Katz book we have, it's called Where's My Belly Button, it's colorful and I point at the body parts they mention as I read it to her.

  • Seuss, On the night you were born, a "goodnight stories collection" we got from Sam's and also I'm reading him The Tales of Beedle the Bard (fairy tales for wizard children) ;)

I also tell him the story of the three bears and three little pigs from memory some nights instead of humming.  He really doesn't seem to care as long as it's DH or mine's voice.
