  I always equate loss of mucous plug to implantation bleeding from TTC. It really doesn't mean a whole lot until you ACTUALLY go into labor (or actually get a BFP) since it can be hours, days, or weeks until anything happens still.

  Exactly what PPs said. Ive lost pieces of mine for a couple weeks now. It can actually regenerate and doesnt mean a thing.
  
  I think the only exception to this is if it is bloody mucus- this usually happens closer to actual labor. But Im not a Dr.

  I lost my mucus plug and my water broke at the same time. Even then it's not for sure you're ready, the membranes can heal themselves. Though definitely call your MW for more info.
