Tilted Uterus Help!

I'm 11 1/2 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first pregnancy was normal and I had a natural birth. I went to the doctor last week for my first u/s and the doctor told me my uterus is severely tilted. I have to go back to the doctor next week for another check up to see if my uterus has moved and if it hasn't, I'll be sent to a specialist who will "move my uterus". I am freaking out! I've always heard that a tilted uterus is not much of a concern. How will the doctor move my uterus?! Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Tilted Uterus Help!

  • Don't let anyone touch you! I have a retroverted uterus and have my whole life through one whole pg and now another it makes no difference.

  • I am 10 weeks pregnant and also have a pretty tilted/flexed uterus. My husband is also an OB and he has no concerns and neither does my OB I see. The only thing that could happen, and it is rare, is that you can get incarcerated uterus. When the retrovertd uterus does not leave the pelvic area bc it is more or less trapped. This happens around 14 weeks....so if you start to have problems peeing and feel abdominal pain/pressure I would go see your doc. When this happens sometimes they do try to manually move your uterus...but yo my knowledge this would be one of the only reasons why they should...but even then I think they try hard not to.
  • I've always had a tilted uterus... I had one child and am now pregnant with the second. I don't think there is a need to move your uterus... never heard of that. I'd ask why it needs moved (I'm sure there is a reason) that way at least you know why they are doing it for sure. Good luck!!
  • My uterus would sometimes tilt when I was pmsing and early in pregnancy. Besides being painful for me sometimes it didn't cause any other problems. I go to physical therapy twice per week for muscle spasms and they are able to correct it. It really just feels light a gentle massage and some mayo fascial tissue release around that area and feels much better when it is back in the proper position. I imagine that is all your doctor would do to try to correct the position, nothing to be scared of :)
