Re: MOTN Check-In

  • I wish I was sleeping! I'm sick and had to take my rescue inhaler, so now I'm wide awake. Everyone else, including freshie, are snoozing away. Not fair!

  • Almost 11pm and the contractions are causing me pain! :(( If they are going to stick around, fine if not, just go away already. Not worth timing yet but definitely present.
  • LO is fast asleep. Not momma. Momma keeps checking on him to make sure he is breathing and wondering why he isn't up to feed yet. Two things this shows me: 1) I'm paranoid 2) I am a control freak. :-/

LO is super gassy tonight... She keeps waking up to cry and it's pitiful. Can you give newborns the infant gas drops? The package doesn't specify; it just gives a dosage for under 24 lbs.

yes! Mine says 1/2 tsp for babies under 1 month

Trying to pump again but of course she won't go back to sleep and I can't really manage both effectively at one time. I need to learn that skill.

  • Hey ladies. Hoping my inside baby is working on making her debut but becoming more doubtful! I'm 40 plus 4 today and OB stripped my membranes yesterday morning. Woke up 2.5 hrs ago with contractions 5-8 min apart. They have slowly slowed to nothing. I'm up walking hoping to accomplish something! I was really hoping this was it!

  • @brittneyandadam‌ That sucks about your DH. I hope you can talk things out in the morning.

LO has been up twice tonight before she was even up once last night. Boo. DD1 is up now, too.
  • Just finished a feeding. Waiting to make sure he is actually done. LO isn't going more than two hours in between feelings. It's exhausting.

@brittneyandadam sorry about DH. My DH was like that the first few nights, but the LC helped to make him realize how important it is for him to be supportive. Hopefully your DH realizes that too. I've come to realize men really don't function well on no sleep.

  • Feeding T a bottle and then gonna pump. It's the easiest way to give him his vitamin drops.

It's only 9 here, so we are just getting started for the night.

  • No outside baby here but I've been up for almost 3 hours. Only got about 2 hours of sleep and woke up to what I believe are contractions. I keep questioning myself on if this is false labor or not but I am timing them. Starting yesterday at 1130am they were 30 min apart starting in my front and going to my back giving me horrible back pain. Now they are 15-20 minutes apart. My doctor said not to call until I have 6 contractions in an hour. So here I am up and can't sleep.

  • Thanks ladies. He kept saying over the last two weeks that he would barely hear her cry unless I'd go to th bathroom before feeding and she'd really start to wail....and he'd recognize that he gets more sleep than i do. I know he works long days and I'm trying to keep that in mind...but it's hard for me to give him a break, especially when he leaves me alone with her on the weekends b/c he can't stand just sitting around the house. I'm stuck here alone all week and I just need a break.

I just wish this little munchkin would start sleeping a little longer at night without crying to be held.

  • up after feeding and now pumping... waiting for baby girl to poop... it's almost been a day and I mau be calling the ped in the am (even though I guess it's normal for less poop now as long as it's not longer than 2 days??) im just dreading the explosion when she finally goes. EveryEverytime she farts I'm expecting it. either way poor thing is gassy and was fussy all evening before she went to bed.

  • First night home after the crazy long hospital stay, and now that we're here, I can't sleep! I keep checking on LO thinking he's going to pull his swaddle up to close to his face, or wake up and I won't hear him. I need sleep, but I'm just so anxious that my adrenaline is pumping through me, leaving me wide awake.
  • @brittneyandadam‌ let your DH have the guest room not you! If he can't handle the crying he can find a new place to sleep. You shouldn't be kicked out of the comfort of your own bed. Like pp said, it won't last forever. It really does get better.

Anyway I'm up feeding LO and have two complaints. First, what's with these stupid baby gowns with the elastic at the end?! I swear it's harder to change him with this stupid thing, the elastic is so tight I can barely get it out of the way of the diaper. And two, whose dog is outside barking at 3am?! This is the second time this week I've heard it in the middle of the night. I'm already up so I guess it's not a complaint because I don't really care. But it's weird. Alright, time to try for more sleep!

My pedi said that up to 7 days is normal. Did you try an anal massage? Dip a qtip in olive oil and then gently go around the anus clockwise, then counter clockwise. Sometimes the stimulation is enough to produce a bm. You can also massage baby's belly...again with the olive oil...gently apply pressure and go around the belly button. My pedi told us about the techniques. Also, 2 tbs prune juice with 2 tbs water....that will def clear baby out.

  • About halfway through a feeding around 4:30 here. My only complaint at the moment is damn milk leakage. Over the last few days, my left breast has started leaking a lot more. I just fed LO on the right first and by the time I had got to the left, I had soaked through my bra pad and left a nice wet ring in my bra around the outside of the pad. I never have this issue with the right. May need to buy more absorbent pads just for the left side.

Does anyone have any recommendations on good nursing bra pads?

I bought "bamboobies" off amazon. Pretty pricy for just two pairs but very luxurious and haven't leaked through with those yet.

  • I was so exhausted last night and ready for bed. 1 1/2 hours after I went to sleep dd is in our bed screaming. Get her quiet and asleep only to have it happen 30 minutes later. And 30 minutes after that. First her foot hurts, then her stomach but she doesn't have to poop. I don't have a clue. She's quiet now with her little Minnie Mouse toy, bink and sippy cup of water watching Disney channel. Back to my contractions that go absolutely no-frickin-where while dh sleeps without a clue.

haven't done either of those. I was hoping she'd go last night on her own. she is farting up a storm. so I'm not super concerned, I still want to call the ped today bc I'm paranoid. Also when she was in the hospital I remember the nurse telling me she took her temp and that stimulated things real quick... so we've done that 2x. ugh I know it's normal but its hard not to worry. I think prune juice will be our last resort if the ped is okay with her poop habits

  • 6:30 here and just finished a feed. All I want to do is to go back to bed but instead I'm getting up to shower and get ready for the day because dh is back to work today so I have to have everyone dressed, fed and ready to get in the car by 8:45 to take dd1 to preschool. Then do it again to pick her up, and then we are meeting friends out for the afternoon. Wish me luck ::gulp::

  • I started to check in at 430am, but DS decided he just wanted a quick snack, so I took full advantage.

I cried last night between 9:45 and midnight because he was cluster feeding and I was so tired. I handle true MOTN feedings better than those when I am trying to fall asleep the first time I guess.

  • DH just got got up and stormed out of the bedroom saying that he needed to get some "fucking sleep" b/c he had to work in the morning and that he was going to sleep on the couch. Great. Thanks. I'm not exhausted or anything from our LO not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. It's not like I'm the one who gets up with her to feed her...oh wait. No worries DH, I'll just cry myself to sleep again b/c I'm so tired and frustrated...I don't need any form of support. Tomorrow I'm just going to drag the PNP into the guest room and have it all set up for tomorrow night. I really can't handle a grown man's temper tantrum on top of a needy infant.
Why do men feel that THEIR work requires sleep more than a mommy's work of taking care of a newborn. You BOTH have to work in the morning. And I agree. Your DH should take the guest room.... I know our husbands are awesome but I really think they are much bigger babies than we are and even sometimes more so than the infants!!! My DH hasnt yet experienced the motn crying so itll be interesting how he reacts. He is particular about his sleep when he has to wake up ealy for work.
I mean hubby has been an awesome help during the day.. but seriously the way he reacts to motn shit... UGH. Like I enjoy it either???? Suck it up buttercups, we're in this together.
