Mini pill

Has anyone noticed a decrease in milk supply while on the mini pill? I BF and supplement with formula and as of last week only had to give LO one bottle a day of formula. I've been on the mini pill for two weeks now and this week I noticed that I've had to give LO three or four bottles of formula a day because she is still hungry and my breasts don't feel as full during the day as they used to. Also, I pump once a day and I'm getting a lot less milk than I did the last few weeks.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm wondering if I should stop taking the mini pill before I have no milk left!

Re: Mini pill

  • I just started taking mine - I've only gone through a week, but this is good to watch out for...I was told that wouldn't happen.

I have noticed that by the end of the day I don't have nearly as much milk as at the beginning, but I'm not sure if that's normal or not...

  • Yes, my supply tanked within the first week. I stopped taking it and it was back to normal two days later thankfully.

  • @kam3100‌ oh wow, I had a feeling it was the pill. Glad to know your supply went back to normal so quickly though! Thanks!

@Matthew930‌ when pumping I would usually get more in the morning, but I definitely noticed I've had less milk towards the end of the day since being on the mini pill. Definitely keep an eye on it!

  • I've been on it for a little over a week and haven't noticed any difference.

I did start my period which sucked.
    hi

  • I've been on it for over a month and I was worried but haven't noticed a difference.

  • Been on the mini pill for about 3 weeks and haven't noticed any decrease.
  • I have been on it for a month and just this past week have noticed not feeling as full. Although I am 10 weeks PP and it could just be my supply leveling off. LO still seems to be getting plenty and is satisfied.
  • I have not had problems with supply, but since I have absolutely no set schedule I have struggled to get the pill at the same time everyday. After reading up on how important that is, I am going to stop taking them. Being late by 2 hours = another baby making opportunity. NO THANK YOU. LOL.
  • @lamarei‌ I agree, the whole having to take it at the same time was difficult. I've been off it for two days now and already my supply is getting back to normal.

Glad to hear! I hate the fact that I'm one of the unlucky few that can't take the pill because of supply issues. I suppose it's for the best anyway because I gaurantee I would forget to take it in the same timeframe everyday.

  • @kam3100‌ yeah I had set an alarm on my phone but then I would get distracted by feeding DD or changing a diaper. So hard to remember when you have a newborn!
