getting poop smell out of carpet????

Ughhhh so after our poopscapades during naptime the other day I didn't touch the carpet per cleaner's advice...the cleaner came the next day & there is no sign of the stain on the carpet. but within a day the odor is back...any advice here? Considering he covered like a 15 sq ft area, we're talking a lot of carpet. I (GROSS) have crawled around to see if it is specific areas & tehre are spots that are stronger than others...I'm thinking about spraying vinegar water in those areas & letting it sit awhile??? Any other suggestions?

Hmm, maybe vinegar. Other things that come to mind are:
Cleaning the carpets again
Sprinkling baking powder down, let it absorb the smell, then vacuum it up
Febreeze (I did this with the arm of our couch when DD puked all over it. I was more concerned about getting her cleaned up than the couch, and it soaked into the foam cushion. I tried using a cleaner, but it couldn't get the smell out. I ended up using almost a whole bottle of Febreeze, and it worked. Smell never came back.)

They make a product for pet accidents called Nature's Miracle. It is an enzymatic cleaner that removes the smell so the animal isn't attracted back to spot. I would try that. You have to pour it on and let it dry, don't wipe it up.

not sure if it works for poop, but for pee ammonia works really well.

But, I would try baking soda first!

I was just going to say this when I saw the title. We LIVE by Nature's Miracle. I can't tell you how many bodily fluids between the two child, the previous dog and current dog have put on the floor. DISGUSTING. But Nature's Miracle makes it more pleasant to be here. We've used it on pee (both child and canine), poop (again both child and canine), throwup (yet again child, canine and even mine since I threw up cleaning the throw up), and blood (mine). I believe DH uses it as a weekly cleaner just to keep the house smelling fresh.
