Mama's with LO with Tubes

I need help figuring out the best plan of action. I was advised that once DD tubes get placed to avoid getting soapy bath water in her ears. So with regards to washing her hair any advice or suggestion on best way to tackle this. My DH works 3rd shift so its only me on bath duty and getting her to hold still is challenging enough, I can only imagine what its going to be like trying to avoid water in the ears.

Please help!!

We use an old baby soap bottle. The small neck helps me control the water. Also, we use a wash cloth a lot to help get soap off the hairline and face/neck.

My son is getting tubes on the 26th. I asked specifically about this - ENT Dr. gave me paperwork that says the following : In a bathtub or shower, your child does NOT need to wear ear plugs. Your child should avoid submerging the head in a tub of soapy water. The soap makes the water slicker and easier to penetrate the tubes. *Shampooing the hair and pouring water on the head is acceptable even without ear plugs or cotton.*

We currently use a flexible plastic cup thing made by Munchkin that we got from Target and just plan on continuing to use that.

I think ENTs vary on this. My doctor said we could just pour water over her head like usual. The only issue with the soap is that if if she was an older kids who liked to lay down in the tub with water around her head except her face, we should have her do that with water only. Then use soap after because the soap increases the chance that the tube will slip out (like how you can get a tight ring off with soapy water). We were told swimming was fine, even going underwater, but only to 3 feet underwater due to water pressure increasing the deeper you go. Again, this summer she never went deep under, but she did lose her footing in the baby pool a few timesr and her head was submerged. We haven't had any issues since the tubes went in back in June.

We have this bath hat thing from China. Seriously, I think it was less than $2, with free shipping, haha! Once he got used to it, and stopped trying to pull it off, it works great. All of the water falls off far away from his face and ears.

My friend lived in China for a few years and she said that pretty much every person there swears by these things!

LO doesn't have tubes, but we use a castile soap (Earth Mama Angel Baby brand) that isn't tear free, so we always avoid the eyes, and by default, the ears. We just use a wash cloth and gently squeeze the water and guide the soap down the back of his head.

Just a side note - I did have tubes twice as a kid - I was a toddler, and then an elementary schooler, when I had them. I was a fish and loved to swim - always with ear plugs and a swim cap but it worked.

Our ENT doesn't get worked up about baths. She said not to worry about it bc the amount of water that can get in is so small. If his head is submerged, we can use ear drops as a precaution but we don't ever use ear plugs.
