1st Trimester

no morning sickness/ tell about 1st Tri Symptoms.

Are there any other women who simply do not get morning sickness (actual vomiting) I've had waves of nausea but that's it. I'm more miserable being extremely bloated the minute I put a morsel of food in my mouth.

Re: no morning sickness/ tell about 1st Tri Symptoms.

  • Yep, quite common.

  • I'm the same, haven't thrown up yet but i constantly have hunger pains which cause nausea.
  • I'm just entering 2nd tri and I never puked once.  Didn't even have a wave of nausea, but I've been hungry as hell since a week after my BFP.  Baby's doing just fine - he/she just prefers I stuff my face with as much food as possible.  Everyone is different.

  • I never had any morning sickness with DD. Honestly, not even nausea. What DID happen was that my appetite died on me. Food just wasn't appetizing; I didn't want to eat anything and what I did eat made me feel awful. I spent the first 6 weeks of my pregnancy subsiding on chicken nuggets and frozen potstickers because they were the only things that didn't upset my stomach. I ended up losing 7 pounds. Then, around week 12, my appetite came back with a vengeance and so began the "feed my face" stage.

Next time around, it might be exactly the opposite. Every pregnancy is different.

  • Thank you for all the insight. Not sure where someone got the idea I complained about not puking. I was interested in hearing about symptoms the non puking moms had. I seem to have more GI issues and abdominal dystension . Hearing from a non MS mom might have given me a collective poll of what their Sx were.

Thanks for all info. Hope everyone has a happy pregnant day :)
  • As far as thinking morning sickness is pregnancy advice from movies... 50%+ women get it so I believe it is not an unintelligent question to inquire why the other half do not, or are experiencing.

No snark intended at all.  There is really nothing to inquire about.  Every single woman is different.  Our bodies release the same hormones in pregnancy.  Some react differently than others because, everyone is different. Morning sickness can range from none, mild to hospitalized and hooked up to IV fluids.  Because, everyone is different.

There are endless threads about symptoms, lack of symptoms, people wishing symptoms upon themselves. 75% of women will have some sort of symptoms while pregnant, but each women will have a different experience. So, while I haven't thrown up either, what I'm experiencing is likely to be very different than what you are experiencing.

In summary- anecdotal stories won't give you any helpful information. It's normal to not throw up. It's normal to puke your brains out. It's normal to feel nothing at all. And all of this information could have been obtained by reading the 1st trimester FAQ thread at the top of the page.
  • I didn't throw up with my first at all. and now i'm pregnant with my second and haven't thrown up at all either. still in the first trimester though.

  • I'm 9 weeks, I haven't puked yet, but do have a bit of nausea and diarrhea. I am hoping and praying it stays this way, feeling quite lucky if so. My mom was vomiting and sick for 5 months, yikes.
  • How many weeks are you, OP?

I haven't had too many symptoms yet. I'll be 5w tomorrow. I'm pretty sure the nausea is coming. With my 2 previous pregnancies, the nausea/ms all started at just about 6 weeks exactly. I puked a ton. A ton.

  • Only 5 weeks and no vomiting yet. Only symptoms so far is major bloating and gas. How can I release it?

Take a pin and pop yourself.
  • Yeah the gas and bloating is pretty extreme , I took gas x tabs and fiber pills. Not much help though but the belly bloat is a good reminder to get used to it because it will be a baby bump soon!
  • Hi. I am 11 weeks, and I have not vomited once during my pregnancy. I had started to think something was wrong because I've not had any sickness so far. After talking to a few friends and Praying that everything is fine, I just said, "Thank God I've avoided it so far" I've heard morning sickness horror stories.

I can't wrap my head around people wanting to have puking symptoms!!  I am a teacher and I can't afford to be out any days before the baby is born besides appointments, so if I was sick all the time, I couldn't imagine coming to work like that.....I am GRATEFUL for the lack of sickness.  I'm only 7 1/2 weeks so I'm still not holding my breath...every time someone asks how I am feeling I say "still good, for now".....hoping to GOD it stays this way!  Any nausea/dry heaving or whatever I have had has been short lived, cured by dry heaving or eating....fingers crossed this is all in that category.  The girls feeling like they were hit by a truck and peeing 19 times in the middle of the night, now thats a different story!  LOL
