    The Good:

    • Had my family's baby shower this weekend and it was so much fun! My sister did a fabulous job and made these little yellow and gray blocks w/ the babies' names on them that I can use as decor in the nursery. I had an out of town friend who I haven't seen in a year (since she had her son) and a couple other friends I haven't seen in years as well. Loved being able to catch up with everyone.
    • My body is still holding up although I'm tired as hell ALL THE TIME. Hip/back pain has been minimal and, really, the most uncomfortable thing I'm experiencing is having two big baby heads pushing up on my diaphragm and making it hard to breathe.
    The Bad
    • Had a bit of a scare last week, partly due to lack of communication by doctor's office. Long story short, I'm extremely anemic -- like to the point where if if gets any lower they're going to have to do an IV transfusion of iron and, if I have a C section, they're worried about me losing blood. So, now I'm on prescription iron supplements and getting up in the middle of the night to take them on an empty stomach w/ orange juice and hoping they absorb.
    • I almost wanted to punch the high-risk doctor my OB had me see (apparently he is really busy so she is helping him see patients in the office) after she made a comment that IVF pregnancies tend to have more complications "because they aren't natural" (her words). I'm pretty sure 1. I've done my research and that is far from a proven truth and 2. I have an IVF pregnancy AND multiples and, aside from the iron issue, I've been pretty much complication free. Whatever. I hope I don't have to see her again (and she doesn't deliver babies so no worries there).

What TV shows are you looking forward to returning this fall? (OR what shows are you watching right now?)

The shows I'm most looking forward to returning are The Walking Dead and American Horror Story, although I'm also excited about Two Broke Girls, Once Upon a Time, and Supernatural. We normally watch The Biggest Loser, but I'm thinking we are going to be skipping it this year since I feel like seeing people lose tons of weight when I'm feeling like a whale is going to make me hate life.

Right now we're watching Lost Girl on Netflix (Canadian supernatural detective show) so I will also be looking forward to watching that when the new season of that starts up in December (although I guess I will be downloading episodes since we're not in Canada).

  • @absolutelymaybe‌ I can totally relate to wanting to punch the high risk OB. The one that I'm seeing has said the same thing, and he makes digs about IVF at every ultrasound. I'm so over him at this point, but he's the only high risk OB in our area. On a better note - I'm glad your shower was fun!

AFM- I had a regular OB appt last week. My belly is measuring at 38 weeks... yikes. Blood pressure was good, so I was happy w/ that (it was high last time). Finally got a prescription for a heartburn med (Zantac) - that stuff works like a charm! I have an ultrasound tomorrow w/ the aforementioned "lovely" high risk doc. Annoyances aside, I'm excited to check in with our baby girls again :)

QOTW- I'm slacking on TV lately. Though this may change soon since I'm starting maternity leave a little early. I still want to check out Orange Is The New Black!

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

Been a decent week. Baby B Flipped to head down which always makes me feel better. When either or both are breech I feel way heavier with more pressure. I'm sure he'll flip again. He does every couple days haha
Finally got our cribs! Opened the changing table and it was damaged. So now waiting for that part to be fedexed. It's definitely been a saga lol. Training us for things to not go smoothly I suppose.
We got our baby CPR class done this weekend and took a baby care class. DH changed his first diaper and did his first swaddle (on a creepy doll) lol.
Dr called today that my iron FINALLY went up. I've gone from severely anemic to mildly anemic. I'd upped my vitamin c, magnesium intakes and added way more spinach and kale to my already meat centric diet. So glad it's working.

Started watching legends but on the fence about it. Can't wait for scandal, Greys Anatomy, Walking Dead to come back and happy that Sons of Anarchy already did

Can't believe how close we are getting ladies!
  • @absolutelymaybe Glad you had fun at your shower!

Still feeling pretty much the same.  Though I am definitely experiencing swelling, particularly in my right leg.  Was at the doctor yesterday and there are no concerns with my blood pressure so that is good at least!  I am starting my NSTs in 2 weeks.  I can't remember now if they are every week or every other.  When do you guys start them?

Had my shower on Sunday and it was so much fun!  So many of my friends were there and everyone seemed to have a really good time. I am posting a picture of me from the shower because I finally have a cute picture of my bump!

QOTW:  I am really looking forward to The Good Wife and Homeland.  Those are my favorite two shows lately.  And Masters of Sex, but it's almost over.

  • Hi ladies!  At my OB appt Thursday I was already measuring 40 weeks, no wonder I feel huge!  Hoping my body doesn't think it's "go time" any time soon so these babies can cook a little longer.  We have a growth U/S next Tuesday so I'm hoping for healthy weights to put me a little more at ease.  My OB mentioned that at 34 weeks they don't do anything to stop labor, which gave me a bit of a reality check.  Things have been going so well (knock on wood) that I pretty much assumed I'd make it to the 38 weeks, although I know twins often come early so I guess I shouldn't be taking anything for granted!  She also mentioned that at my 35 week appt she would start checking my cervix, does that seem a bit late?

I'm a little sad because I have to miss one of my best friends' wedding this Friday.  She was a bridesmaid of mine and I was supposed to be one of hers, but my doctor doesn't want me flying past 32 weeks, which I'll be tomorrow (not that I could imagine doing it anyway).  We are going to a wedding in the suburbs Saturday but even that I'm not too amped about, no drinking for me, I'm sure very limited dancing, what's the fun in that?!

TV shows I'm looking forward to are The Mindy Project, Grey's Anatomy, and Homeland!

@absolutelymaybe I would be furious to hear a doctor say that, what terrible bedside manner!  Even if in her experience there have been more complications, there was no need to say it's because they aren't "natural."  Surely she deals with many IVF families, that is just negative and rude.  Hoping you don't have to see her again either
  • @missvolvo - you look adorable!

  • How are you feeling? Any fun stories to share? Any US/nurseries/clothes/ pics you want to AW? Appointment updates?Feeling pretty good! My due date is exactly two months from today (although my dr will only let me go to 39 weeks). Crazy to think. DD was up at 4:!5 today for no reason (She's normally a great sleeper) so I am dragging a bit, but otherwise things are good. Moving slow and rapidly outgrowing my maternity clothes. :) But I guess that's what two babies gets me. What TV shows are you looking forward to returning this fall? (OR what shows are you watching right now)SCANDAL and GOOD WIFE!

  • Hello Twin Mommies to Be!

I'm a little late in responding it has been quite the busy and eventful week both at work and at home.

@absolutelymaybe I'm glad you had fun at your shower! Hope your anemia stays under control so the babies and you will be fine

@erinwithtwins glad to hear your iron is up! Hope it stays where it needs to!

@missvolvo what a cute baby bump! You are wearing it well.  Nice to see someone else whose belly isn't all that big because people always say but you're so small are you sure that's twins?

    Now for my updates

How are you feeling? Any fun stories to share? Any US/nurseries/clothes/ pics you want to AW? Appointment updates?

I'm actually feeling pretty good but I absolutely dread and hate the idea of a long walk. whether that be a long walk to the parking lot, the bathroom which is pretty far away or anywhere else.  I'm barely lifting my feet just dragging along lol.  I stop working as of next week Friday so I'm trying to complete as many tasks as possible before leaving which is a little overwhelming.

My appointment Last Friday went well.  Babies were fine and both are head down now which is nice and gives me hope for a vaginal delivery. I do have a big fibroid tho so I'm praying it moves out of the way like it did last time.

On even more exciting news I was finally able to get cracking on the girls nursery and I'm really one of those persons that likes to crack the whip so we are almost done. I just have to fill the blank walls and my dad has to build a closet on the other side of the room.  I attached some pics for you guys to see!

What TV shows are you looking forward to returning this fall? (OR what shows are you watching right now)

I'm with @cpm13 Definitely looking forward to Scandal coming back! What an interesting show! I just hope they have an earlier time tho because I keep finding myself falling asleep lol

  • @tiersa_smith‌ your nursery is so cute!! I'm so impressed with you ladies that are done or close to it. I have idea what I'm doing with the walls or a mobile yet.

@absolutelymaybe‌ besides putting me on the prescription iron they also have me eating an orange a day and taking magnesium which seems to have really helped. This is the brand they have me on. Maybe it'll help you too. Bonus it actually tastes decent.

  • @absolutelymaybe - Thank you!

@zamboni00 - I like how you are weaning yourself off work!  For the most part I am still able to get through the week, but I wish I didn't have to work until 4:30 everyday.  Getting home just an hour earlier even would be so nice!

@tiersa_smith - thank you!  People say that I look too small to have twins all the time.  So when they ask when I am due I just say November and don't mention twins unless they ask about sex just so I don't have to hear their response!  Also your nursery is so freaking cute!
