I realized no one ever said to stop taking this, although it was part of my protocol following my FET. I've got a call into the nurse, but when were you told to stop taking it?

I am 14 weeks and just got put on baby aspirin. My RE said that the American Congress of OBGYN just came out with a recommendation that those at higher risk of pre-eclampsia (including twins, which is why I got put on it) should take a daily low dose of aspirin. It apparently also helps with placenta growth, which can help with avoiding IUGR later in pregnancy. So basically I am now on baby aspirin until the end, I think.
I took it from the start of my cycle and am told to stay on it until the end of the pg. Like pp said, it helps with pre-eclampsia and keeps blood clots to a min, which is very dangerous during pg.
Very interesting! Just heard from the nurse who said that they leave this decision to the OB. The one I saw last week, with whom I may not continue, didn't say one way or the other. At least it's good to know that there's no risk and possibly some benefit to staying on it!

Most of the research on aspirin was for full dose, which isn't recommended at all (obviously) but there's increasing research that a baby aspirin has no ill effects during most of pregnancy. Definitely check with your doctor and/or a pharmacist to confirm, especially if you are taking other medications. Also, I can imagine they'd typically recommend you STOP taking baby aspirin leading up to delivery to prevent excessive bleeding, but I'm no doctor and that's just a guess.
I took baby aspirin against my doctor's wishes (I'm a terrible patient, I know) during fertility treatment because I had read so many positive studies about it. I weaned myself off by week 10, starting by taking it every 1.5 days instead of every day (so rather than every morning, I'd take one in the morning and another 36 hours later the following evening, and another 36 hours later, etc.) and then every 2 days, and then finally just stopped all together.
I kept taking it until I ran out. I believe that was around 18 weeks or so?
Side note: We were MFI and, as far as I know, I didn't have any issues so really the baby aspirin was just because it was the RE's standard protocol. It might be different with different IF diagnosis.

I stopped at 10 weeks. I think the timing depends in large part on why you're taking it. I have no known clotting disorders, and was just taking it as a standard part of my FET protocol. I was having spotting while on it, so I was relieved to stop.
Trying to grow our family with both fertility treatments and adoption since March 2009

Well now that's very interesting. :-? I've been having spotting for about a week. Hadn't occurred to me it could be related to the BA.

My RE just had me stop today (5w5d) because of some bleeding issues. I was only on it as a standard part of the FET process and the nurse explained that some people just don't end up needing the blood thinner part of the aspirin.
