All mothers should have the right to have paid 12 week leave to spend with their newborn! 6 weeks is not enough! Sign and let's see if we can make a change for the better!!

This may be an unpopular standpoint but where would this money come from? Taxes, of course. I don't want higher taxes as it seems the govt takes enough of my money and gives it to programs from which I cannot benefit. I'd rather keep taxes where they are and handle my own finances.

I'm ALL for longer protected leave. 20 weeks+ would be nice!

And the lower-income parents wouldn't be able to benefit from that because they couldn't afford to take 20 weeks unpaid.

If it were to work like in Canada, it would be paid by you and your employer by small deductions from your paychecks (like unemployment).

I would love to be a SAHM, but we can't afford it right now, so I work full-time. Should the government pay me a salary to stay home because it's "not fair"?

My taxes already pay for lower/no-income families with welfare & WIC. Why should I not receive paid maternity leave especially since I am over qualified for other gov't programs?
