I just had my 20wk appt and they checked everything under the sun, it was the coolest thing to see. However they noticed that the cerebellum isn't as developed as it should be. Once side is smaller than the other. Everything else is fine, they don't know what it is. It was very overwhelming today, I became very emotional, my hormones werent' helping the situation. The doctor at the Radiology place was talking about so much that could be fine or could be wrong. There is no family history of any medical problems on both sides of our families.
They want to do a Fetal MRI to get a closer look and then they want to do an Amnio for a genetic history.
I'm waiting to hear back from my OB on what to do.
Has anyone ever heard of this before?
Re: 20 wk check up- might be a sign of cerebellar hypoplasia
This or even the Special Needs board. Just remember to be patient when expecting answers on those boards they aren't as highly trafficked as the tri. boards.
I agree with PPs. Also, don't google it! You could only end up upsetting yourself even more and that's definitely not worth it right now.
GL!
Sorry, I don't know anything about it. I just wanted to let you know you're in my t&p!
Thanks for your kind words!!! The Doctor from the Radiology place had me in such a panic. I had a Fetal MRI done and everything is fine
. One side of the Brain is a tiny tiny bit smaller than the other but there is a high chance that it will continue to develop, there is no documentation about this, it means absolutely nothing. My other test are A OK
.
The Doctor from the Radiology Place told me that he had to tell me everything so he could cover his Butt
. My Doctor was not happy that he told me those things but all is well now.
Thanks Again!!
Thank you for your help!
