April 2014 Moms

Weekly / daily schedule

Do you have a system for running the household (clean on mondays, groceries Tuesday, laundry Wed, etc.)? Or do you just do whatever whenever. I'm adjusting to staying at home part time and trying to get more organized and scheduled.

Re: Weekly / daily schedule

  • Groceries on Sundays then cleaning and laundry throughout the week- not very organized....
  • Loading the player...
  • Whatever/whenever. Though I do try to vacuum on Tuesday and Thursday during the week. I try to get out of the house every day with these guys and run errands. I usually have to pump when they are napping so I don't have time to clean (besides clean up after us) during the day.

  • I have a "system" but most weeks if flies out the window.  I am a stay at home mom PLUS I homeschool our 12 year old daughter.
    Monday: laundry day
Tuesday: clean house and I take "C" to the library for story time
Wednesday: deep clean the bathroom and kitchen *yuck*
Thursday: laundry, tidy up any areas that need extra attention. This is also the day that our homeschool group gets together for different activities.
Friday: grocery shopping and bill paying day * ohh joy joy joy*
Weekend: I just do what has to be done and the rest of the time we spend outside if the weather is nice.

Grocery shop as a family on Sundays if we're not involved in something else. I do it Monday with the kids if we all don't make it Sunday. The dishwasher gets run practically every day. Laundry whenever (but often). A lot of cleaning on Tuesdays while my daughter is at preschool.

  • I do during the summer (I teach) but when it's school time, almost everything (minus dishes and an occasional load of laundry) happens on the weekends.

  • We both work full time so this usually works for us:
    Saturday-cleaning, no laundry
    Sunday-laundry
Thursday-groceries (payday and my oldest has bible study so I can drop him then go do my errands, this is also leftover night so I don't have to cook)
  • We have activities we go to on specific days (Sunday- soccer, Monday- story time, Tuesday- nature class, Wednesday- puppet shows or errands, Thursday- toddler group, Friday- swimming, Saturday- family time) and chores get squeezed in wherever. If we have time to do groceries during the week we do, if not it gets done on weekends and we do it as a family. Things like laundry and dishes get done whenever. I'm a SAHM to a baby and a toddler and DH and I agreed that the priority is doing stuff with them, not taking care of the house. So things are not too tidy around here!

  • Monday is groceries.  I work at home the rest of the week so whatever gets done when I have time.  On the weekends DH will usually clean whatever has been neglected.  Weekends are usually laundry as well because hydro is too expensive during the week.
