I never imagined they could be so painful. I always heard that there was some itching and a little pain, but I can't sit or stand or anything. The pain is terrible. Is this normal?
This just developed during the day yesterday, but feels like it is getting worse, not better. I've read the past threads with suggestions on relieving some of the pain, but is there anything I can do while at work? Obviously sitz bath, ice packs, etc won't work in the office and I'm trying to be discreet so I don't have to discuss the source of my pain with my coworkers.
Also, I couldn't find much reliable info about how to get rid of a hemorrhoid (in past threads or by googling). I found info on how to try to avoid them and how to get relief from them, but don't know what to do to get this to go away ASAP.
Re: I know we have had plenty of hemorrhoid discussions but....
I've been using the Tucks pads with some Prep H cream, but it doesn't really seem to help. I did two sitz baths last night and have attempted to "push it back in" as recommended by PPs and also my best friend who is a post partum RN. That only helps for a minute or two and then it re-emerges :-( I also tried an ice pack, which was little help. Yesterday I tried Prep H wipes which seemed to only make things hurt more.
I am really struggling here at work today and just want to go home and cry, but I can't take any more time off (with my upcoming maternity leave and only working here for 6 months), so I'm trying to make it through the day. It just makes it worse knowing that I potentially have to deal with this for another 5 weeks...and maybe longer.
Sorry for being so whiney, but this is seriously some of the worst pain I've ever experienced.
Or can I get an epidural for hemorrhoids? :-?
When I was going through my ordeal with the clotted ones I was researching the hell out of them online and I actually found not one, not two, but several posts/messages/blogs/whatever from pregnant women, or women who had recently given birth, who had said that dealing with the thrombosed hemorrhoids were much worse than going through labor AND C-section recovery. I wouldn't say that it was quite as painful as labor, but the pain was up there. Can't speak to the C-section recovery comparison.
I've had bad roids since before my first pregnancy, from many years of digestive issues but they were never as bad as when after I got pregnant. When they got to the point of being rock hard and painful I got a rx cream from my doc and seriously got overnight relief. Unfortunately for me, mine don't ever go away. I use baby wipes when having a bm, have to carry them with me everywhere, TP always causes flare ups.
Had a csection with my first and didn't have painful roids till after the nurse gave me a suppository (never had one before), they said I needed a bm before I could go home. It was the worst I've ever had after that.
I hope it gets better for you and they go away after delivery.
Eta: oh n be careful of stool softeners, it could actually "hurt" if you get the wrong kind. If you're not constipated they're not necessary. All you can do right now is avoid flare ups. Drink lots of water, eat fiber enriched foods and use baby wipes not TP when going.
Et: there's a baby balm and a mama balm, so be sure to get the mama balm
I'm glad kaniela17 checks her notifications more often than I do! Yes, Amazon and the EMAB site work, but also check to see if any local parenting or natural health boutiques in your area carry it. There's a natural parenting store down the street from me that carries it, there's also a few vitamin shops and even a Target that has it (not all, just one in my area). Check https://earthmamaangelbaby.com/pages/store-locator if you'd like to find a local shop that can keep you stocked up in the future, I hate ordering online so I get it. On that note, I also love their stretch mark oil and I ordered some of their postpartum bottom spray which I'm curious to try, it's supposed to help soothe everything down there, especially if you get a tear.
