Pregnant after a Loss

Updated: first appointment/hcg levels

So I just had my first appointment, wherein they just took blood to determine how far along I am (I got pregnant right after an early miscarriage so never got my period). I assume I'm between 5 and 6. Anyway, I'm impatient and have been worrying big time about hcg levels being where they should (strictly because it seemed to never rise high enough to even give a dark line on a test last time) even though I know every test I've taken this time has been an immediate dark line. Anyway, for reassurance, I took a weeks predictor test at home while waiting to hear back from doctor. I got highest possible result: 3+ weeks since ovulation, which does make me feel a bit better, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with these tests? How accurate have they been for you? Thanks. :)

  • Those tests are notoriously terrible and often give results that are less than expected or indicated by betas. But, that said, I think @GrailSeeker14‌ is right on - if you get an expected result great. But overall, rely on betas.

  • Oh, I thought I mentioned that I'm waiting for my bloodwork for a day or 2, otherwise I wouldn't have had a need to use these tests at all. I'm just impatient and I was a nervous wreck. Anyway I guess it was right in this case since it gave highest possible result. I could see if the urine was diluted too much or something it would probably be inaccurate. So lucky me that it worked I guess. Thanks for the responses. :)
  • So my doctor finally called and my betas were @ 2950, and I suspect I was around 5 weeks ( + maybe 2-3 days) at the time. I know the range is pretty wide but are those good numbers in anyone's experience? Supposed to repeat test next Monday to make sure it still looks good, and because we aren't 100% sure how far along I am. Thoughts? Reassurance? I'm just driving myself crazy with worry.

You really need 2 numbers to see how they are rising, but the number itself is well within the normal range for where you are.  FX for a reassuring next number!
