I have lurked here for a while, but this is my first time posting. I am a teacher, and when I get home from work I just want to play with my DS and take care of him. I hate cleaning and find that I put it off until I HAVE to do it.
DH knows how I feel and has been wonderful to step up and help out. Now, he is offering to hire someone to come in and do these things for us.
My question is how do I go about finding a housekeeper/maid/whatever you want to call them. I know maids usually only do the deep cleaning...vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing. Is there a service that will come in and do dishes and laundry as well?
TIA for any help!
Re: Housekeeper/Maid ?
I recommend that you ask around to your friends for referrrals. Then, I would interview about 3 of them. I would have them come to the house and walk through the house and tell them what you want done. It can include anything from deep cleaning to laundry to dishes. Then ask for a quote from each one based on what you listed as what you want done.
Totally worth it!
Based on what you've wrote it does sound like a cleaning service wouldn't fit the bill since you want more than a house clean (this is usually a flat rate service, where a crew comes in either weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or just a single deep clean). It sounds like hiring an individual at an hourly rate to come weekly or twice a week is more what you need. This would allow you flexibility in having the laundry, dishes, or any other tasks you need done.
If you can't find referrals I would check out Care.com.
We have a lady come in, she is from a local service and we found her through some friends of ours.
She charges $50 an hour and will pretty much do anything we ask while she is there. She's even folded and put away DD's laundry for me a couple times.
She mainly does the floors and bathrooms, H and I can manage everything else.
