Molars can suck it

DH is out of town for work all week and LO was up from 1130 on screaming...I do motrin or tylenol before bed and then when he woke up I gave him some more of the the other one but nothing would settle him down.  Hed scream for a half hour then stop for 10 mins and so on all night.  So tired today... Any one else have any tips of what to do for teething at nighttime?

Re: Molars can suck it

  • He weighs just under 25 lbs..yeah I have been doing 1 tsp.  It does seem to work but then it wears off around 4 hours.. I think he just got too worked up..I gave him a second dosage..but then he couldnt fall back to sleep. I have read you can try doing a second dose while they are still asleep but Im almost positive hed wake up to that..I guess I could try it.

  • are you using infant tylenol or childrens? my pedi told us to use 5ml of children's tylenol and DD is 22lbs.

  • Maybe mine is infants Thanks! Now I feel like an idiot. haha Maybe that is the problem?
  • frozen celery sticks are what we do here. and teething tablets.

  • We were on vacation when DS was teething molars. He woke up MOTN 2 nights crying/whining and I didn't even think about molars. One night I laid on the floor with him and when he started to cry I would "shhhh" him. He eventually fell asleep not too long after. Then the 2nd night that didn't work so we brought him to our bed and let him play for 10 mins then put him back to bed.

I think letting him play for a short time lets him forget about the pain enough to fall back to sleep. And the times before when I thought he was teething MOTN he wanted nothing to with chewing on a cold teether so I would give a dose of Tylenol.

Good luck and hopefully it's over soon.

  • I let my son nurse basically all night when the molars are at their worst. Luckily, we co-sleep and I can sleep as he nurses.
  • Molars suck so bad! Hope he is getting some relief.  Luckily for us (unluckily for poor Annabelle) all her molars came in one after another so we only had a couple crappy weeks. We bed shared during that time, too. That seemed to give her at least some comfort.
  • Yeah he has slept w us past few nights when he wakes up and does sleep then just worried well never be able to break it did she eventually stop waking up and was able to sleep alone agsin?!?! @ordinary1‌
  • After her molars all broke through she went back to normal (STTN and in her toddler bed).
