Headaches :/ anyone with me?

Almost 13 weeks and ever since I found out I've been getting pretty much weekly headaches. Anyone else? Anyone got any good remedies for them ? I try to what I can to make Tylenol my last resort as first i make sure I'm hydrated and have eaten but lately that's not working . Luckily with my son's pregnancy I never had headaches even after being diagnosed with pre e . So this is a new fun recurring symptom. :(

Re: Headaches :/ anyone with me?

  • I just stared getting headaches a week ago (14 weeks now). It's been annoying since I am also trying to stay away from Tylenol. I had an ongoing one Friday and Saturday but thank goodness it went away today. Not sure if it was dehydration or running around with no rest for two days. Today I am taking it easy and hoping that'll do the trick.

  • I'm with you, I've had a dull headache for over a week now (will be 14 wks tomorrow). I have no tips though I only resort to Tylenol as a last resort, other than that I just try and tough it out
  • Yes, wicked migraines. I have three other kids, so mine happen mostly when I'm exhausted and dehydrated. The only thing that works for me is sleep!
  • Yes, I've been getting headaches in conjunction with nasal congestion and nose bleeds. :(    In my non pregnant life I think I've had 1 nosebleed ever ... so this is annoying.

I don't take anything, I just try to wait it out. The worst one lasted for a full 2 days. Sleep did nothing. Went to sleep with the headache, woke up with the headache. It sucked.

    Good times! Ugh.

  • Every single day in the afternoon. Ice packs on the neck and head work wonders and a Coke. I know we have to limit the caffiene intake but the one coke with 35 mg seems to do the trick with the headaches.
  • I am also with you on this 1, I've been getting them for just over a week and I'm 14weeks today. I have heard it's a sign of pre e is that true?? I have resorted from taking anything so far but drinking lots isn't helping!! Xx
  • This is going sound ridiculous. .. but my mom told me to wash a potato and slice it very thinly... and put those slices on my forehead. Somehow that worked wonders... it took away a 48 hr headache
  • Yup every morning I get them. They seemed to replace the MS for me

  • Yup! I only get migraines when I'm pregnant... Luckily for me it started at 8 weeks this pregnancy instead of 23 weeks like my last pregnancy.... I talked to my doctor about it, he gave me a script for Tylenol 3 for worst case scenario use but I'm not convinced I want to take it. I generally try to avoid all meds when pregnant but sometimes you just have to be able to function :/

  • Same...I started getting headaches at a little over 14 weeks. A coke usually works, and I occasionally take Tylenol once or twice a week.

So annoying because I never got headaches before!

  • I have gotten regular headaches and migraines since I was a kid, and my normal prescription is not pg safe. My OB said once you're out of the first tri, a dose of caffeine is the best solution. So, a single cup of coffee. I'm not normally a coffee drinker, but I found if I can get down even half a cup (with tons of milk) helps keep headaches at bay.
  • Ugh, yes but I also have HG and headaches are a side effect to zofran. Drink as much water as you can!
  • Yep, since day 1 I've been pretty much getting a headache daily. Dr. recommended Excedrin Migraine, so that's what I've been taking.

  • As of late I've been getting them more, yesterday ALL day but thankfully it's gone today. I'm trying to drink even more water, although I know I drink tons as it is.

  • Headaches here too. I've found laying down with ice packs on the back of my head/neck and on my forehead help a bit. Plenty of water and naps help, and a little caffeine works too. If you used to drink lots of caffeine it could be withdrawals from that.
  • Headaches here too. Cool compresses on the forehead seem to be the only remedy for me. I might try a Coke now if a bad one hits at work.
  • I am with you headaches all the time! I found that if I stay hydrated, drink tons of water then I usually don't have one.
  • Such a bummer that so many of us are dealing with this. I do ice packs on my neck and eyes. Lie on a tennis ball with it placed right at the base of your head for ten minutes it helps relieve some of the pressure.
I also started yoga and that seems to help the daily headaches.
My sis is a chiropractor that specializes in prenatal and post partum care, I don't live by her but am looking for a chiropractor that does the same.
Good luck ladies!!! Sometimes when it's really bad I look at my ultra sound and remind myself how worth it is!
  • I take Tylenol or drink a little coffee. Seems to help most of the time, but not always.
Last night i guzzled water and it was the first time in a long time I didn't have wicked headaches at work.
I wonder if I just get dehydrated...

  • With you :/ everytime I get a headache, I drink a bottle of water then put at ice pack on the back of my neck while soaking my feet in warm water. Helps draw the pressure out of my head.

  • I'm with you. It sucks.
  • As soon as I hit 2nd trimester my doc said I could take excedrin migraine! But I can't take it in my 3rd. I've only broken down and taken it twice but it's the only thing that helps!

I got migraines with my first and this time around they are just beginning this pregnancy also. The only thing that keeps then away is sleeping with a pillow between my legs. If your head aches start at the base of the back of your neck it is related to your spine changes.

I hope one of the suggestions help you because they are the worst!
