Soft food suggestions (NBR)

So, I'm getting a tooth pulled on Monday :( I hate going to the dentist, even just for a cleaning, so I'm really kind of starting to panic about this extraction, but it is what it is.

Anywho, I'm working on my grocery list for next week. I'm planning to make butternut squash soup, mashed potatoes, chicken noodle soup for later in the week, and will buy yogurt to eat, too. Any other suggestions for some soft foods that would be a bit more satisfying than eating Jello over and over again?  (Although I'm sure I'll have some Jello, too ;) )

  • Cream of wheat for breakfast?

I would be living off of mashed potatoes and ice cream, I need some now :)
  • Also -- oatmeal

  • @shellbell3845, anyone who always thinks of ice cream is a friend of mine!

I guess oatmeal is good too, but it's no ice cream ;)

  • Anyone have a great smoothie recipe? I really like strawberry banana, but thought maybe I could branch out.

  • @CiaoMama, thank you! Do you have a recipe for the pumpkin pie flavored oats? That sounds really good! Where do you buy your chocolate protein powder? Not something I've ever looked for...

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled I lived off of mashed potatoes. My mom made a huge portion of plain, then I could add cheese, garlic... anything to change it up. Oooh, and sonic slushies. The cold felt so good.
Ooh, yes! A good excuse for Sonic!

  • FROYO!!!!!

    Fun fact about Codypup:

I wore braces for 11 years and have had 17 teeth pulled. Plus oral surgery for a tooth that was coming in at the roof of my mouth.

@ramfan05‌ for the Pumpkin pie oats I usually just wing it. Per serving: ~1/3c oats, 1/4c of pumpkin, 1/3c (+1tsp) of milk/almond milk/water, and then as much pumpkin pie spice as you like. Mix everything together. I also add chia seeds and flax to mine. Put it in the fridge overnight in a sealed container, and viola! Overnight oats. They're pretty delicious. Sometimes I get fancy and drizzle some real maple syrup over top. I like Dymatize Chocolate Fudge protein powder. I usually buy it on bodybuilding.com or get it at GNC/vitamin shoppe. Whoever has the cheapest price.

@CiaoMama‌ do you eat them cold out of the fridge the next morning or heat them? This sounds like something I have to try!

  • I recently had some dental work too. I've been living off of oatmeal and smoothies. Here's the pumpkin oatmeal recipe I started with and modified it to taste https://fooddoodles.com/2011/11/13/pumpkin-pie-steel-cut-oats-in-the-crockpot/ . I reheat it later in the week by just adding a little milk. It's a different kind of overnight oats. I've never tried the fridge kind. Sounds interesting

  • Thanks for all of the suggestions ladies! My poor tired brain couldn't think about much yesterday! And I love how many people have suggested ice cream in one form or another... good ol' F14!
