What can I eat?

I'm sure there's probably a thread about this but I don't feel like searching so flame me. The past 3 days I have had SERIOUS heartburn, like I want to stab people. I haven't made it to the store for antacids because well, life has gotten in the way. What can I eat for lunch that isn't going to throw this heart back into the flames?

  • Bananas. I know it sounds weird but they really do help.

  • I sympathize, but also, no help here. I developed acid reflux with DD2 and I'm still on meds 6 1/2 years later.

You could try a bit a baking soda in water to neutralize the acid (I still do it in a pinch these days) and lie down on your left side (it helps keep the esophageal flap closed and the acid in your tummy). Other than that, the other PPs have given some good advice for bland foods. Also eating smaller meals will help.

  • I second laying on your left side. That has really been helping mine at night. I just had cereal & milk & so far have not burped any of it up.

  • Ehh I'm no help. I just have been eating what I want and paying the price later!
  • So far so good, I ate a turkey and cheese sub from subway (most boring sandwich ever) and a banana. I miss delicious foods but it is not worth the price right now!

    Gasp! You ate deli meat?!

I did! But I'm already aware that I'm a terrible mother so that's cool, right?

  • You can't eat anything! Don't you know nothing is safe during pregnancy!? image
I got a Babycenter email this past week that supposedly told me all about the "worst 5 foods" for pregnant women.

    I didn't even open it.

  • Once I get heartburn I can't eat anything without suffering for days. I hope that is not the case for you. I have to take zantac daily and once I stop the heartburn returns with a vengeance. I crave spicy food so that doesn't help either. But like another PP stated, I eat what I want and suffer the consequences. Good luck.

  • Whatever you eat, chew it well and eat slowly. Mine got so bad I got a prescription antacid from my doc about two weeks ago--going to try to go off it after the weekend and see if the heartburn has magically dissipated. Not holding my breath.

  • No help. I get heartburn from moving positions too quickly, drinking water, ect. Just about from anything. I just suck it up and chew on a tum here and there if it's really bad.

  • I ate 5 Oreos and some lays potato chips for lunch because I value nutrition and having well rounded meals.

Well the Oreos are round and potato chips come from potatoes which have nutrition so I think you win.

  • If you can handle it, apple cider vinegar works wonders for heartburn. It's best diluted in apple juice but I've been known to shoot it when my heart burn is bad enough.
  • @3girlsnthepup‌ I broke down and got some pepcid. I can't even function right now it's so bad, I hope it kicks in soon! Luckily DS is really into legos right now so he's in his own world building towers. This is a pain I never wanted to feel!
