At night, DS goes in his crib awake and falls asleep on his own with no issue. During the day is another story. He fights sleep like no other. If I don't get him to sleep the second he gets tired, he gets very fussy. Holding him doesn't help the fussiness. Basically he just grunts and fusses until he finally falls asleep. Not a full on cry. If he is in his swing he will grunt and moan for about 5-10 min then he is out. If I try to hold and soothe him, it takes longer. I do not want to have him cry it out and I'm not sure if this counts.

OP, I agree that we gotta do whatever works.
Long story short... I get how you're feeling! And glad others agree it's not CIO
