How many strollers?

I know the twin stroller question comes up a lot. I'm just curious how many of you have more than one and is there a compelling reason to have multiple strollers? We 6 month old twins have one stroller - the Mountain Buggy duet.  works great and we have been using it with the car seat attachments since they were born, but I feel like a smaller, cheaper one would come in handy at times, too, especially with the girls being able to sit up better, but not being ready to convert our other stroller to a sitter until they are out of car seat carriers.

If you have more than one, what are they and do you find you really do use both?

Re: How many strollers?

  • I have 2, the Dream on Me twin (bought at Amazon, though) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dream-On-Me-Duplex-Stroller-Brown/35239750  and the Double Snap n' Go.  Love both for different reasons.  The snap n go is light and easy to use, narrow for navigating store aisles, etc.
I looked at a lot of more expensive double strollers and got the Dream On Me for the following reasons:
    5 pt harness
    fully reclining, separately adjustable seats
Narrow enough to fit through any handicap accessible door
    One hand closure
    Basket underneath
Easy to push since it's not a bus LOL

My twinkies are 5 months old, but we get plenty of use out of it at the zoo and such.

  • I have the City Select for bigger outings and the Dream on Me Freedom tandem umbrella for preschool drop-off/pick-up and short trips where I know space will be tight. The Dream on Me is secondhand and is falling apart, and I am considering buying a Kinderwagon Hop off of a friend in my local MoM group to replace it. But those two are sufficient for me for now.

  • We used a joovy twin Roo when the babies were small.

We switched to a bob duallie once they hit 7-8mo and could sit in carts well.

That's it. We have a wagon for short neighborhood walks, but I'm really not a stroller person. I had an umbrella w my oldest and used it less than 5 times. Complete waste.

  • Honestly we only had 1 and never felt like we needed more.  We had the Kolcraft Contour Options Tandem.  Loved that thing and was sad when my twins were too big for it.

  • We had a DSNG until about 9 months.

After 9 months, we got a city mini double and 2 moderately priced single umbrella strollers. I absolutely use both sets of strollers now on a regular basis. I use the double if I'm walking longer distances, going over grass, or any time I'm by myself with the kids.

We use two single strollers if DH and I are both out together shopping somewhere, such as the mall, or if we're going to an appointment. The singles are easier to fit through tight spaces and give us the flexibility to split up and each take a kid, depending on what their needs are at the time.

I also bring the umbrella strollers when we fly. There's no way I'd trust the airlines not to destroy my city mini!

I have 4. My main one is a Kolcraft Contour Options Tandem. I love it. I have 2 car seat adaptors and we are just now getting into the big kid seats. I like tandem strollers for being out and about, cutting through parking lots, going into stores and crowded areas etc. I have a double jogging stroller for walks/jogs around the neighborhood. I've only used it once before I realized the tire was flat. I think it will be great once DH fixes the tire. It's really nice to just keep one stroller in my car and have another for walks. I go on a lot of walks. I was given 2 double SNGs. I was also given 2 used car seats. I put the used car seats in a DSNG and just leave it in my front patio so I don't have to get my main stroller out. I'll get rid of the DSNG once my jogger is ready. The other DSNG I have is in my garage but I'm giving it to another twin mom.

  • I like having two at a time, one that I keep in the car and one at home for walking to the park or jogging. My jogging stroller is huge and heavy (BOB RE) so I found a Kolcraft Contours Tandem at a consignment store and keep that in the car.

Here's the thing; sometime I have forgotten to put a stroller in the car after using it and found myself stuck somewhere without a stroller.  It's a son of a bitch trying to get two infants/toddlers into a store or wherever you are going without one!
  • We have 4. The Britax B-Ready is our every day stroller for both infant carseats. It's stadium style seating and nice and narrow. It also works nicely with just one infant seat if I take just one baby to a doctors appt. We have the city mini GT twin side by side for when they are a little older and always together. Finally we have two light weight maclaren umbrella strollers, also for when the boys are older, for when my wife and I are both out together and can each push one or if one of us takes one of them somewhere alone.

    A & K, married 7/1/13.

After 10 months of ttc via medicated IUIs and two early losses, we finally got our boys- Perfect premie twins born 5/27/14.

  • We have a Contours Optima Tandem that we use for long walks (its easy to maneuver and fun to move the seats around on, and comfy but man that thing is a BUS) and our Joovy is in the car for using with the car seats - I love the Joovy for going out to eat since we can pull the girls up to the side of the table and they can join in. I am looking for a side by side now that is light, easy to maneuver and can pull up to a table at a restaurant to replace the Joovy now that we are almost out of infant car seats.
