Time for a new car seat?

i know we had talked about them in the randoms buuuut

Is anyone else changing into a bigger car seat?

LOs not quite to the limits on his carrier yet, but he was getting heavy for me to carry around so i decided to ditch the carrier for a convertible car seat. Heres the one we ended up going with.

Its the Evenflo Symphony Elite. We got it at Costco and it was $40 off. I think the sale runs until sunday if you're interested.
it has great reviews, and fits perfectly in our Nissan Altima. I was worried bc it is a big car seat, and the BF is tall so he sits with his seat all the way back. but it fit no problem! i will say though, i think if we had regular passengers in the back seat it would be a bit uncomfortable for them. but since we never do, i didn't see it as a problem for us.

what have you mamas been looking at??

Re: Time for a new car seat?

  • We have our Chicco Nextfit from the Target sale sitting in our garage ready to go! I don't like giving up the bucket seat but it's gonna happen soon with my super big baby!

@carissalynp‌ What kind of car do you have? You should ask car seats for the littles fb group if it will work.

We have a Radian R100 for DS in Dh's car and just bought two more, another for DD in DH's car and one for MIL's car since she watches the kids during the week.

Those of you who bought Radians, I hope you bought the angle adjuster or look into getting it. Otherwise you'll likely find that it takes up too much space front to back.

  • LO is about 20 pounds and 28ish inches. Hauling him anywhere without a stroller is exhausting. We are looking at getting a new seat in the next month or two. We're headed to Vegas (6 hours each way for us) in November and don't want to put him squished in there. We're looking for cheap so we're probably going to go with Graco or Eddie Bauer surprisingly has a decently priced one at Target.

  • I'm leaning towards a Nextfit, although it will likely be part of DD's Christmas from my ILs.

We leave the infant bucket in my car, and rarely take it out anymore.

  • I think I say this on every convertible car seat post: get one that fits your kid and your car - anything extra is just gravy. Also, all car seats pass tests for safety, any extra you pay is for ease of use and comfort.

I love Britax so we bought Britax convertibles for DS1. Well, guess what - having one of the best/most expensive car seats means nothing when it doesn't fit your kid's body type. The Gen3 seats we got best fit shorter-torsoed kids, not my all-torso offspring.

So, we wised up. We researched and tried car seats in the store and brought them out to the vehicles to pick seats that better fit DS and our vehicles. We ended up with a NextFit for my car and a Radian for DH's truck (extend cab - short back seats. Fits great with angle adjuster @carissalynp‌ ). DS2 is in DS1's old Britax until we find another NextFit & Radian. Since DS2 has a similar long torso, we know those will fit him well.

Okay, off pedestal now. Have fun shopping everyone!

  • Another with Radian RXT here. We did the angle adjuster as well (Honda Civic and tall husband) and it works great! DS loves being out of his bucket and being more upright and able to look around. Biggest minus is when he is asleep when we reach our destination. I miss being able to carry him in asleep and so far we are 0-2 on transitioning from car seat to crib without waking.

Ditto. We used it for the first time today and went straight to BRU to buy the adjuster. I was practically sitting on the front dash without it. It's amazing how much room that square piece of foam gives you.

now i need to youtube the radian with and without the adjuster to see how it works

Does anyone else just not want to deal with shopping for these? I keep coming back to this thread and then clicking out of it because I'm overwhelmed again. Someone please just tell me what to do and when to switch seats.

Kind of. I want someone to tell me what to buy. I keep changing my mind/not knowing what to do.

  • I'm kinda afraid some of this will happen when attempting to install the new seats haha. I think I've decided which one to buy, I'm just not ready to fork out the money yet.
