Sleep - need advice

I am losing my mind and need some advice. My LO is 10 weeks old. She will only fall asleep in my arms with a paci. Up until last week she was in the habit of only waking once per feeding and even gave us two nights of sttn so I wasn't too worried about any negative sleep associations. Around week 8, she went to waking twice and then at week nine she started waking every hour or two. I thought this might be a developmental leap but it's lasted over a week and it's not getting any better. Is this because of her sleep associations? I'm so hesitant to wean her off because the paci has been a sanity saver (she used to cry so hard she could barely breathe). Anyone have any experience with this or something similar? I'm up for trying just about anything at this point. TIA.

  • I've been told by a certified sleep consultant that you really can't sleep train until 4 months old. At this point you have to do whatever is needed in order to make sure you are both getting enough rest. It's definitely a conversation to bring up the next time you are with the ped but nothing to worry about right now.

  • Can you try taking the paci out while she's still in your arms and mostly asleep? HAve you tried a wubbanub to help her keep it in on her own? I haven't dealt with a paci issue (yet), but maybe try taking it out and, if she reacts, putting it back in after a little soothing to ease her off of it?
