Hi ladies! So I was just curious if any of u you have experienced blood pressure issues post partum. I never had high blood pressure prior to pregnancy and during it was slightly elevated around the 24 week mark which led to tests for pre eclampsia which all came back normal. I did for the rest of my pregnancy have my pressure fluctuate from 125/80 -140/70. As soon as baby was born all my pressure checks at the hospital were completely normal around 118 etc. At all my follow up appt s including my 4 week check on wednesday it was elevated slightly again to 140/82. I have to go back in next week for another pressure check. Just curious if any of you have had this happen. Im wondering if maybe its just the lack of a good nights sleep etc.

  • My BP was excellent throughout my pregnancy, and at one week PP it rocketed to 160/100 but no other symptoms:/ it has gradually come back down to normal (now 3.5 weeks PP). All my labs are normal. I did have A LOT of fluid retention r/t c-section and IV fluids. Another culprit could've been the ibuprofen I was taking for pain. I cut waaay back on ibuprofen, kept drinking lots of water, and took it easy. I figured with a huge life change like HAVING A BABY I wasn't really that surprised it was elevated @-) As long as you're monitoring it and don't have any other sx like HA or vision changes try not to stress about it- hope it comes back down!!

  • I did in the first few weeks following pregnancy. Like you, I didn't have issues before getting pregnant, but had be to tested for preeclampsia twice during; both times I was negative. I went to the hospital a week after giving birth with a fever and my blood pressure was up so they checked me again for preeclampsia (apparently you can get it following pregnancy), but I was cleared again and instead diagnosed with mastitis. I haven't tested myself for a while because I've felt fine, so hopefully it's back to normal at this point. Hope yours drops... I guess I'll find out about mine at my 6 week follow-up this Tuesday.

  • I had zero BP issued during pregnancy but at About four days pp I started feeling off. Shortness of breath and loss of swelling. I called my ob and when I went in to her office my BP was 180/100 and my liver enzymes were elevated. I was hospitalized for the night :(. I'll be on BP meds until my 6 week check up.
