Update: the appointment went really well. This oncologist actually felt really comfortable with taking an "active surveillance" approach. Although we did learn about all the radiation options available. Dad's cancer is what they call low risk, low volume, so he is an excellent candidate for active surveillance. We will all meet with the surgeon next week to learn more about that option.
It feels good knowing he can watch and wait, at least for now.
They will closely monitor PSA and do biopsies at least every year, so if something changes we will know.
Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts and prayers! We are glad it was caught early and will continue to pray for dad and for good guidance from the doctors. Special thanks to
@CaiShov for suggesting to write things down - I bought a notebook for my dad to keep track of everything from here on out. I took great notes today and it was so helpful!!
