2.5 is so hard. Not my favorite age. I'm pretty sure I get nothing done anymore. I'm currently listening to my DD sing from her room because I'm not ready to get her out of bed yet. Sometimes I think it was easier when I had 10 of them at daycare...because I could send them home at the end of the day. lol

But.......3.5 is harder. They have more words and even more independence. So I'm trying to remember that when we have a hard day here. It could be worse...

I'm on the fence. DD can be really lovely, but will be a total devil the next second. I honestly think I'd be a little more "I love this age" if she wasn't constantly all over me while I am nursing DS.

Last week was wonderful. This week...not so much. So really, it varies here too. Ask me again in two weeks.

DS just threw a 30min tantrum because I wouldn't let him watch Octonauts, so I can relate

I agree. I love the conversations and how smart and sweet she can be. I could really do without the full-out tantrum for 45 minutes two mornings in a row because she wants her dress "up there." What that means, nobody knows.

Oh yeah, I am hit several times a day, have tantrums but also have so much fun with how smart she is-it truly amazes me at times! She is very witty as well-the girl is constantly making me laugh-she loves to ham it up!

LOL! DD asked DH to "cut her pizza in half", which he did. And she freaked out that he cut it at all-and that's what she asked for!! What do you want child?

Funny. Mine threw one the other day because a commercial came on for Octonauts and she didn't want to watch it.

She also cried for 40 minutes the other morning because she asked to watch Veggie Tales. I turned it on. About the time I got to the bathroom, she changed her mind and wanted something else. I told her I'd change it after I peed. Not soon enough for her. She threw a fit. And lost all TV privileges that day because of it.

I'm really kind of enjoying this age for the most part but I couldn't agree with you more about sweet one minute, terrible the next! Right now, he's really into throwing-- he now figured out the mechanics of a good throw so he loves to launch things over the railing, fire cars across the living room-- pretty much anything that he can pick up has a chance of being tested as a projectile. We have had many discussions about throwing, which usually end in an apologetic "Ok, I don't throw anymore." And then he turns around and throws something. Yesterday he threw something and looked at me and said "I don't want a timeout for throwing." This tells me he knows very well the consequences of what can happen if he throws and he still does it!

On a side, sort of related note, yesterday someone at daycare did something that resulted in a timeout. As the kid was being led to the timeout corner, Alexander runs over to his aid and yells "THIS IS A MISTAKE!" All the teachers were laughing so hard that the kid ended up not getting the timeout. I couldn't help but think that Alexander knew exactly what he was doing.

I'm also on the fence. DS doesn't throw those long-lasting tantrums you all described, though he does have his moments. Lately it's been selective hearing. I tell him to do or not do something and he ignores me. I've started asking, "DS, what did I say?" And he repeats me and does what I say.

Today he tried a different tactic:
Me: Don't spit.
DS: ...
Me: DS, what did I say?
DS: Spit!

Um, no. Lol.

I'm really loving this age. I love the conversation, the imagination emerging, and independence. There are days where I wish she wasn't so independent just so we can speed some routines/activities up.
We have it days where it is like wow, I never knew someone so little could throw such a tantrum. The hardest thing for me is that she is scared of NOTHING. It is so hard having her at the farm because she will walk right up to a cow slap it on the but, or chase pigs. She knows how to turn on the lawn mower, four wheeler, and gator. It terrifies me what 3.5 has to bring!

..2% "pass the vodka"

.. although there is a thin blurred line in there .. that borderline where its more like "awesome, pass the vodka n orange" some days it's not as thin as others haha
