Trouble TTC a Sibling

TTTCAS Resources?

Hey all,

So a little bit more about my background: I'm 28, turning 29 in Nov and DH is 35, turning 36 in January. We got pregnant with DS when I was 26 (turned 27 during pregnancy) and DH was 34. We had absolutely no issue getting pregnant and I had a normal, healthy, extremely uneventful pregnancy outside of DS coming 10 days early. Since, I've had 2 miscarriages, both around the 7-8 week of pregnancy. My OB called it "extremely bad luck" and said there's a "good chance" my next pregnancy would be fine.

We haven't done testing and won't unless we would have another issue - but my question is, does anyone have info on good resources to just do some research on what COULD be going on? We are waiting to TTC again until at least January, but my fear is waiting too long, ending up having another loss, and then losing valuable time. From what I've seen I don't think our age is a huge issue yet - but maybe I'm missing something? Also, a lot of info I have seen about TTTCAS tends to be on boards and non-medically sanctioned. I would love a good start into this reading.

TIA - and apologies if this is a common question. I'm just finally starting to accept what could be going on. My biggest fear is that if DH hears there is something more to all of this, he may be more inclined to really want to be OAD. He's not big on testing/doctors in general as it is.

  • Sorry for your losses. As PP said, there could be so many reasons for your issues, the most common being progesterone issues. In this case, your OB could prescribe progesterone supplements. However, it could be more serious and only testing could give a better understanding of what's going on with your body. There are also times when tests won't give you a definitive answer. Since you are on a break it might be hard to really pinpoint what's going on. Just don't get too scared with the many possibilities out there.

  • Ditto progesterone is common. For some autoimmune.

It's really difficult to truly know without testing though.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks so much ladies. With my last pregnancy, I actually went in when I thought I would be 8 weeks but ended up being a little over 6. The pregnancy ended about 2 weeks later. @sailorgal @cheetara2 Do you know if progesterone is something they look at the levels of when they do your initial bloodwork? I'm just surprised that since I had a previous loss that they didn't check that.

Thanks for the tips on the books, too. I will definitely start some reading!

  • I don't live in the USA so not sure if it varies. For me it was only a specific test when it was suspected it may be an issue.
