Question about movement

So I'm 28 weeks (tomorrow) and am plus size, and I have felt the baby ACTUALLY move/lightly bump a few times with my hand but most often I just feel the twitching type feeling from within a few times a day. I don't really feel a lot of like moving or anything but it's the same twitching feeling that I've felt for 6 weeks now. Is this normal? I'm just wondering what others have been feeling/experiencing. I'm not worried persay, just curious as to what this is most feel still at this point.

  • I've been lucky and have been feeling my little one since 19weeks. Random and weak in the beginning-am now 28 weeks and she rocks and rolls all day long! I am also plus size so I feel lucky to feel her as much as I do.
  • So for others with an anterior placenta - is there a point in time where that doesn't matter anymore and you feel movement as if you didn't? Or is it always a little muted? I feel ripples and twitches, but I've only felt kicks once, really. Especially to where DH could feel them. I'm at 24 weeks.

  • I have an anterior placenta and have been feeling legit kicks - not just rolls and flutters - since about 23 or 24 weeks. In the last week, though, she has been moving more regularly and I feel her moving and kicking all day with at least 10 or so being hard kicks.

  • My doctor is fine with it - I'm just curious as to others' experiences. I'll want to feel her kick all the time. Until she starts kicking me all the time.

  • I'm not feeling much either. And it's frustrating.

  • I have an anterior placenta and have been feeling movement regularly since about week 21. I am now 24weeks5 days.    I am a normal weight for my height.    Around 20 weeks I started feeling him when I was lying on my side at night.  Then at about 21-22 weeks I was feeling him throughout the day and not just when I am lying on my side.

For me, it mostly feels like a twitch.   He mostly moves around at night when I am getting ready to go to bed, or if I am in the bathtub, or if I drink something really cold.   I think he sleeps most of the day.
  • Everyone is gonna be a little different but if you are worried definitely talk to your doctor. I was just getting twitches and flutters until about 24 weeks. I'm 28 weeks now and the kicks downright hurt sometimes. I can feel my whole belly move at times and it makes it hard to sleep. Hopefully yours is just playing in odd positions and being polite to your organs.

  • Thanks everyone for the input! I can see that most of you feel more than I do right now, but some of you have similar movement quams or feelings. I am going to call my doctor this morning and talk with them about it, I wasn't super worried or anything because I figured the twitches were still her. But I think it's best if I just call to be on the safe side! Thank you!

  • I am 24 weeks and have only felt real movement maybe twice. I feel flutters kind of I think during the day but I don't pay much attention since I am usually busy with other things and it is very light, The only time I have felt a kick is when I lay down in the morning and set my hands on my belly and put a little pressure not much. Even then it is barely noticable unless I am quite and concentrating. I brought up only feeling a couple movements to my ob on my last appointment at just before 23 weeks and she was not concerned. She said she really doesn't expect regular activity until later. Now I do see you are 28 weeks and that is around the time I was given to start tracking kicks so I can see your concern if you were told the same thing. I was never told I have an anterior placenta so I don't think it is the case for me. Another thing is that I still don't have a bump at 24 weeks. People are surprised I am not "showing" yet but I guess the bottom line is all pregnancies are different even when it comes to movement. Good luck and I am sure all is well.

  • I have an anterior placenta and started feeling movement around 22ish weeks.  I'm now 27 weeks and can feel kicks and actually see them some times.  I don't think I feel them as often as other people do though. Only when I'm sitting relaxing or lying on my side.

  • I'm almost 28 weeks and have been feeling him since 18ish weeks. I have an anterior placenta, but he is positioned like he is touching his toes (both head and feet are towards my cervix) so I can feel kicks lower down. Sometimes I feel light upper kicks, but when I really feel him and MH can is when he kicks down low or to the sides. I think it's most important that you are still feeling something, even though it's not epic. Of course, call your OB to confirm!

  • So my OB had me do the sugar test....drink something really sugary and eat something sugary...then lay on my side for an hour and count her movements...her movements were much more noticeable then! They feel like bumps (similar to gas bubbles--but I know they're not)....it was one of the first times I really realized it was her moving! I guess because I'm plus size and she is already heads down that her kicks and movements are more muffled and feel like flutters/twitches (that's what the doctor said). I never realized how much she moves until I did that sugar test and laid on my side and concentrated! It was pretty neat! Thanks again everyone! I appreciate the input and help!

I'm in the same boat - I'm 28 weeks tomorrow and was about 5-10 lbs overweight at the start of pregnancy and haven't been feeling more distinguished movement. I have an appointment next week and am going to ask my doctor about it - I know I don't have an anterior placenta so it just makes me uneasy not to be feeling more movement at this point. If I find out anything useful, I'll let you know.

Hope all is well with LO and you just have a quiet baby. My DD was the child I couldn't even do kick counts with cuz she never moved 10 times a day let alone 10 times in 2hrs so as a STM with her I worried a lot with her. (oh sorry and I didn't have an anterior placenta)
