Just for fun... Crazy IUI Advice

So.. I had someone give me the craziest IUI advice today. She said have your husband drink a red bull or 5 shots of expresso every day between now and the IUI, and she proceeded to tell me other old wives tales that I just tuned out.

What are some of the craziest IUI advice/old wives tales that you have heard???

Lmao I would never. DH would be so off the walls I couldn't take him. He's already hyper. I've never gotten IUI advice but I've gotten lots of ttc advice. Like change your life style. Mind you I don't drink anymore, I have soda like 2x a week, I don't smoke, I've gone to the gym!!! What else can I do??????

Oh someone gave me some advice before my last IUI, I was a little shocked but someone told me to go home and get myself off because having an orgasm causes contractions that help move the egg and sperm along. I have heard some studies say that having an orgasm may help while having sex, but really who knows? I had never heard of that with an IUI. Not for anything but I was in no mood for that after my IUI. People come out with the strangest things.

MH can only wish he can drink Red Bull when we're doing IUI!!

Never got this advice myself, but I think it's crazy when doctor's offices tell the women, Oh we're not open on that day when you'll be ovulating so just come in the next day, it's all the same. What a gimmick.

A friend's doctor also told her that because she is healthy and ovulation is timed with a trigger shot, she can expect to get pregnant the first time every time using donor sperm. Um, no....

Haha I haven't had iui advice but so many people have told us to cut out caffeine while ttc. If that's at all possible

i had someone at a wedding tell me that men that drink caffine are more likely to have a boy because their sperm swim faster to the egg because of the caffeine. And then someone actually agreed with that? Ummm what?

i haven't heard anything too crazy except for the just relax it will happen.

@lisa89760‌ I heard the caffeine thing also. I know pp are only trying to help but sometimes you can't help but laugh. When you've been going through fertility treatments for months and years you know how silly all of these things are. I LOL when I read your post bc someone told me to have my H drink caffeine before we have sex to give his sperm energy to swim. Really? Um ok.

I've actually been given the have sex night of IUI to help swimmers advice. Lol. Plus eat pineapple core for the 5 days following IUI to help with implantation. Going to try that in October.

January 2013- Surprise BFP, m/c at 6 weeks, D&C 2 Weeks later

April 2014- First RE appointment

July 2014- IUI#1-Canx due to scar tissue and polyps. TI with the help of Ovidrel. BFN
