Moms who supplement 1 feeding with formula

I know, I know your not "supposed" to supplement to establish a good Bf/milk production routine. Pedi and lact consult. recommended I could supp. 1 night feeding to top off my DD since she was low weight. I have done this for a few nights and my breasts were full after missing 1 feeding but not terrible. Do any of you do this? I have been told to pump that feed after about 3 weeks but if my breasts don't hurt and I can enjoy the sleep(DH does formula feed) do you think it would be okay to skip that feed/pump and still bf successfully? I do want to try my best to continue bf and don't want to mess up what I am supposed to do but I have heard of many people trying this 1 supplement feed.

Actually, my little guy is really tiny too and finally after 3 months, the pedi said she wanted me to supplement since he dropped to the 0.01% for weight.

She suggested we do a bottle during the day and I pump in place of the feeding. Instead, I actually just put one ounce of formula in a few bottles. We just started it and the last 2 nights, my little guy is sleeping through the night too. Which, yes, is great, but I don't want my supply to be affected.

I work FT, so during the day, I pump and then I nurse at night. If my guy is still sleeping tonight at 2 am, I'm going to get up and pump.  Your supply will go down if you have multiple times that you don't signal it to keep producing milk.

With my daughter, she slept through the night half the time for about 3 weeks before she slept through the night for good. So, some nights I'd nurse and others I wouldn't. I think because my body kept going back and forth, my supply was never affected. If I were you, I'd pump every other night for a bit to try to keep up supply.

thanks thats good advice. How many times will you have to get up in the night besides your pumping session? I honestly like to skip one wake up because when I am sleep deprived I tend to lean towards depression. It happened to me last time too with my DS and I realized once I could have a little more sleep I wasn't so fragile. I know it sounds pathetic but with 2 kids to look after I have to do what makes sense.
