Protein snacks?

Do y'all have any suggestions for high protein snacks? I'm so sick of eggs and nuts... And I'm already swelling so I need more protein. I hate liver and am allergic to shellfish.

Quinoa burger patties - https://www.self.com/flash/meatless-monday/2013/03/recipe-meatless-monday-quinoa-greek-burger/ (add one more egg for binding). I fry up small little patties, great as a small snack or you can stuff a few of them into a pita with all the fixings.

    Or lentil salad https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2014/04/french-lentil-salad-with-goat-cheese-and-walnuts-from-my-paris-kitchen.html

  • Mmmhmmm that sounds ah-may-zing!
  • I do yogurt, string cheese, chocolate milk. Quaker also makes a breakfast type bar that's loaded with protein.

  • Protein powder and a blender bottle is an easy one.

  • I second the Greek Yogurt. My current choice is the Vanilla Dannon Light & Fit Greek.  I add fruit and granola since the texture of yogurt by itself doesn't always sit well.
  • I'll have to give these a try.
  • i second the pp who said greek yogurt, string cheese and chocolate milk and would add cottage cheese to that list.

i would stay away from protein bars and prepackaged protein snacks.  it seems that protein is the latest buzz word that companies are latching onto in an attempt to sell more crap.  have you guys seen the Lunchable protein snack packs?  um...no.

  • I find that most protein bars are too high in fat so the ratios are way off. I've been doing a natural protein powder mixed with chocolate almond milk in the morning. I can't stomach anything dairy at the moment.

  • Peanut butter or almond butter with apples or celery is always my go to for a light protein packed snack.

My go-tos right now are greek yogurt and peanut butter.  I'm not eating much meat at this point and I'm a little worried about the lack of protein in my diet, but I try to eat at least 1 or 2 things a day.

Unfortunately I also have a pretty good aversion to eggs and cheese-especially when melted, (my 2 favorite things pre-pregnancy).

  • I'm having kind of a chicken thing right now where it just repulses me. I've been trying tilapia, greek yogurt with some granola, and string cheese.

  • Do you like beef jerky? That's one that I recently added to my snack options thanks to decreasing morning sickness.

  • Protein shakes!
    Lentils.
    Beans.
  • Cottage cheeses seems to be a pretty solid choice for me, especially when I'm feeling nauseous or really hungry... It's just enough to settle my stomach ;) good luck finding something that works for you!
  • Great ideas. Especially the jerky. I do love jerky. Dairy is a bit of a no-no right now as for some reason I have an intolerance (although greek yogurt, some cheese and kiefer are all ok in minimal amounts), I love eggs but I have had so many.

This. And I recently bought a pound of it at a store in Wisconsin, and when we got home, accidentally left it within beagle-reach.

Stupid dog ate the whole bag before we even noticed he was upstairs. I now have no jerky.
    Noooo! That is the worst.

  • Maybe throw some kabobs on the grill? They make easy snacking all week.

  • Quest bars!! I'm obsessed. They have about 20g protein in them. I stick with the bars with no artificial sweetener

thanks guys, because of this thread I  HAD to stop at the grocery store on my way home and get a bunch of the stuff mentioned.

I was going to say something sarcastic but then I realized that I now have all the foodz that I have been craving so...thanks?

    edit: because spelling is hardz

Yeah I'm seriously craving jerky now and I had to get an apple after someone mentioned apples and peanut butter!!
  • Brought this delightful bad boy back from the States my last trip. Best. Idea. Ever.

Doesn't exist here!! :) (well you can get the baby bags with about 4 pieces for $10 if you find the right store, but that's just stupid.)

  • I am really loving Luna Protien bars in chocolate peanut butter right now! They also have folic acid, calcium, vitamin D and iron, so on days I can't keep my prenatal vitamin down they really save me.
