syrup container for lunch box?

I want to put waffle sticks in DS1's lunch box with syrup to dip them in.

Any suggestion for a container?  I've seen the cheapie clear ones restaurants use, but it has to sit on it's side in his lunch box and I don't trust those not to leak sticky syrup all over the place.

Re: syrup container for lunch box?

  • I would skip syrup, what a mess! Couldn't imagine how that would work.
  • Loading the player...
  • They have some pretty small containers that have lids that I'm sure would be fine to sit in a lunch box. I would check Target and see.

  • Will he eat them without syrup?
  • Could you give something else, maybe peanut butter, instead of syrup?
no peanut butter or nut butter allowed.

Lol. I'm pretty sure a container of liquid sugar is on that "don't send this in your kids llunch" list. But I found small plastic containers in the aisle with the ziploc bags & other lunch box type cpntainers
nope.  he can totally have it.  it helps make the waffles softer for him to chew.

heck in order to practice self feeding they gave my kid pudding at 10:30 everyday for snack.

To practice speech therapy and help him learn tongue movement they use canned frosting.

What about applesauce as a dip instead? Or yogurt? Might be less sticky. But for small portions in general I have glass Tupperware for baby food that I use... Wean green? Something like that.

  • Cinnamon apple sauce can sort of work. Rubbermaid makes tiny containers.

Green sprouts maybe? They have plastic ones too that have a tight seal. Seen them sold at buy buy baby and whole foods.

Speech therapy sounds delicious. I would just buy some small containers and do a test. Stick it in a ziploc just in case it leaks. Is there someone who can open it for him? I got G some with a green top (don't remember the brand) and they're kinda hard to open
He has an aide or a therapist at every lunch and snack with him individually.  I don't have to worry about ease of opening, etc.  They help him cut things down to bite size if needed, they help feed him, and set up his lunch

We have this one and the plain one not marketed to kids. The smallest containers work really well for liquids... Like peaches in water. Whatever you do, don't send it in the small gladware containers. It doesn't work so well if the lunch box tips.

  • I saw little tiny squeeze bottles at Target In the lunch supplies area that were really cute but don't recall the brand. They must seal well as they are made for condiments.

Depends on how cheap I feel.  Usually I give the kids the cheap junk and save it for me and DH. Our current bottle is from Lake George (I think Thurman?) from their Maple Days and sometimes I'm just not in the mood to share.
