  • Essential oils seem like a big dumb scam to me. Someone posted on FB how they might be the only "Medicine" we have against that tummy virus going around and how they're perfectly made by god. No. Just no.

My aunt gave my sister some essential oils for her eczema... it made it worse.

I don't think they replace regular medicine, but I think they have their place for people who choose to use them and can work with modern medicine. And I think they follow more of a "natural living" trend than a religious one.

Until LO arrives, I had never used essential oils. On day 11 in the hospital after LO was born, one of my nurses came in and talked to me about some acupressure and "natural healing" techniques that could get my bowels working again. It was some acupressure and some movements/rubbing to "get energy moving." I didn't think it would work, but at that point I was willing to try anything.

There had been zero change or improvement in my situation at that point. I still had a tube down my nose sucking 1000+ mls of stomach acid out per nursing shift (I needed to be under 300 to think about getting the tube out).

I used those techniques that evening, including rubbing peppermint essential oil in a specific pattern on my abdomen. I went to bed with 700 mls of acid in my collection vat - on track for another 1000 in that 8 hour shift. Another nurse woke me up excitedly in the morning. My vat was at 750. So, I went from 1000 per 8 hour shift to 50.

Coincidence? Maybe. But, if it ever happens again, I will be pulling that shiz out at day 1, instead of day 11!

I love my oils! But, I don't really use them as medicine, so maybe that's why. I use a few to help with my allergies so I can breathe, and one at night that helps relax you. And then I have a few scents that trigger your mood to be happier and boost your energy. When I could use peppermint (before BF'ing) it helped a lot with headaches. So basically I use them for the scent to brain reaction. :)

I hate candy corn, it isn't food.

I hate sport pretty much universally. I have a Patriots shirt because my OH got me it and I wear it to make him happy but wouldn't know who the team were if they stopped by for a coffee, nor would I know when they're playing, any score of any game or anything else people tend to know about their sport team.

I think people who refuse to even consider trying pacifiers but have constantly screamy babies are nuts. Fair enough it's their choice and I'd never say anything but I still think it's nuts. (This does not include pacifier-free families who soothe their baby other ways, they're not nuts.)

I do not like dogs. I can put up with them but that's the best anyone's going to get.

  • I can't put the candy corn pumpkins into my mouth fast enough.  MOAR.

I am so sick of people selling shit on facebook.  I have so many "friends" peddling shakeology, or PiYo or the wrap thing or bags/jewelry...etc.  Seriously, stop.  I don't want your shit and I don't want you to tell me about fitness/diet.  STFU.  I want to be the dictator of facebook and decree that only funny statuses and pictures be put there.

    This.
Also, anything politics. I have friends in the UK so I've had my FB spammed for months with the Scottish independence thing. Give them independence already so I don't have to hear about it anymore!!!
I want to see cat videos, pics from friends and have a short chat with peeps now and again, not be bombarded with politics, debates or anything health.

Speaking of being wrong...where is SarahVols been? Did I get her screen name right?

DH's aunt is like hardcore anti-mickey. It's so weird, she gets like oddly angry whenever he is brought up and refers to him as "that mouse." Don't trust her.

I'm tired of people posting their breakfast, lunch & dinner on Facebook. So you're feeling healthy & made a spinach omelet. Kudos. Now shut up & go eat. I don't need to see all of your groceries.

My mom recently did that, I teased her and told her she we posting porn (because of the food porn term). She hasn't done it since.

  • Candy corns = nasty crap

Agree. Unless it's the starburst candy corn. Those are the shit.
    hi

  • I fucking love Disney World.

    LOVE.

We've already booked DDs first trip for next May. I can't stand people who feel the need to comment about how we're going back again. I've gone every year for the 28 years i've been on this planet and I intend to continue going every year.

I've been other places, out of the country, in the country.. but I just need to be in Disney.

Give me a mickey ice cream bar, 90 degree weather and some dancing characters and I'm good.

This is me exactly!! I was so sad that I couldn't go this year because I was pregnant. DH loves Disney also and we always said we would wait until the baby is 3 years old before taking her but we both have the itch to go again...

I hate baby shoes. They serve absolutely no purpose until they can walk. When LO is walking I will get him shoes. Until then, quit asking me why my baby doesn't have shoes on.

This! And, when the kid does need shoes for walking, I'm not spending $30 on shoes she will wear for a week or two. A co-worker just bought LO a $32 pair of Toms (size 3??) because she said she knows I'm too cheap to buy them for her and she "had" to have them. Admittedly, they are cute (paw prints!) but not worth $32 for a non-walker
  • Why is everyone so excited about picking apples in the fall? It's boring. I have a garden and fruit trees, its work not entertainment

My sister is taking her baby and 2 year old to the chiropractor to solve their food allergies. I love the chiro for my back/neck/head pain, but I firmly believe that they can't fix food allergies. Ditto with the acupuncturist. Also, she loves that the chiropractors are barefoot. I find that weird and unhygienic.
I love my chiro for fixing my long-standing back issue and also fixing some of my headaches as a result of moving my neck around but all my allergies remain exactly the same because she is not also some kind of sorcerer. And feet = ew.
